Monkey Scramble is the fourth game which I started development on during winter break in the 8th grade. This game was created because I really wanted to make a good game unlike my other 3 games. Funny enough my other games were created also during winter break. Anyways, I got into game developing in around 2020 when the popular youtuber called "Dani" made "Karlson". Because of his dev vlogs i actually got into game development but i didn't succeed because my laptop at the time was really bad and it stopped me from actually making games. Fortunately in the summer of 2020 I bought a mid range, decently spec'd pre built gaming pc. After i got it I made my first vr game ever called "Monkey Playground" in 2022 which i first made it for pc vr but then uploaded it on applab. One day after I tried to update the game it got corrupted and filled with errors so I stopped making it. After a couple of days i decided to start making games again and so I made "Monkey Paradise" which was really similar to "Monkey Playground" and it was kinda successful but it also corrupted due to me updating unity. But then after 1 year things changed for the better in 2024 since that is when the first ever version of Monkey's Rush released to the applab alpha channel which only I have access to. Over the months I worked on the game and it was my first actually good and successful game. Everything was going good with the game until one day "Unity" released "Unity 6" to which I updated my game but that broke the application completely, so I switched back to my previously used version of "Unity". Everything was going smoothly until one day I tried to bake the lighting for better visuals, but I sadly found out that the game's whole lighting was corrupted and basically irreparable. At first I tried to quickly remake the game to fix the lighting issues, but later in development I decided to just start over from scratch and make a new game using "Unity's" latest game engine at the time "Unity 6.1". The game was looking amazing but performance on "Meta Quest 2" devices was horrible so I went back to "Unity 2022". The game developing started to slow down due to me being burned out and bored with game development and so I stopped making it. After a long break I got more motivation to begin working on the game so I did but one day I broke some map related things so surprise surprise I started from scratch again (for the 3rd time). I decided to make the newest version with "Unity's" newest game engine "Unity 6.2" which made the game look gorgeous and having learned some optimization the game is working extremely smoothly on all "Meta Quest" devices. And that is basically the end of this long and probably boring story. I can't believe at the community I grew and lots of new friends I made from different countries with all of my games. I wanna thank my whole community for making my game development hobby sorta successful and fun. -MrRokis Date of writing this: 2025-09-05
