Identifying emotions and stressors, then finding and implementing effective calming and problem solving strategies.
Support with exploring, finding, and maintaining work.
Identifying the skills and accommodations needed for the brain's traffic control center to work effectively.
My Background
I earned a Master's Degree in Education and am a certified teacher in the State of Oregon. Before starting Asperger Support Network, I taught in a variety of public and private school settings, and worked as a Behavior/Autism Specialist for Bethel School District for eight years. In 2007, I completed the mentor program at Michelle Garcia Winner's Center for Social Thinking. Over the past 20 years, I have helped hundreds of children, teens, and adults develop the skills they need to navigate our incredibly social world and meet their goals.
"College can be one of the most difficult transitions in life. The transition for me was made even more increasingly difficult due to the fact that I have Asperger's. I struggled and failed and almost flunked out of school. When I started working with the people at Asperger Support Network (ASN) things started getting better. Due to the support and information I received here I was able to better balance school and home. I developed strategies and plans to make things work, from time to budget management. They also helped me become more extroverted and build a healthy social circle. I am now a college graduate with two degrees and am living independently. --Julian W.
