Money Hive ("we", "our", "the app") is a personal finance tracking application. This privacy policy explains what data the app accesses, how it is used, and your rights regarding that data.
1. Data Storage
All your financial data — transactions, wallets, savings deposits, budgets, categories, and profile information — is stored locally on your device. We do not operate servers that store your personal financial data. Your data stays on your phone.
2. Information We Collect
Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, name, and authentication credentials. Authentication is handled through WorkOS, a third-party identity provider.
Financial Data: Transaction amounts, categories, notes, tags, wallet balances, and budget settings are stored locally on your device using encrypted secure storage and a local database.
SMS Data: If you grant SMS permission, the app reads your SMS inbox to automatically detect and parse bank transaction messages. SMS content is processed entirely on your device. We do not transmit, store, or share your SMS messages with any server or third party.
3. Permissions We Use
READ_SMS / RECEIVE_SMS: To read bank transaction messages for automatic transaction detection. Processed on-device only.
INTERNET: For user authentication, in-app purchases, push notifications, and serving advertisements to free-tier users.
POST_NOTIFICATIONS: To send local reminders such as daily summaries and budget alerts.
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED: To reschedule notification alarms after device restart.
SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM / USE_EXACT_ALARM: To deliver scheduled notifications at precise times.
4. Third-Party Services
The app integrates the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

Apple/Google In-App Purchases (premium subscriptions): Subject to Apple's and Google's respective privacy policies.
5. AI Features
The optional AI categorization feature runs entirely on your device using a locally downloaded model. No transaction data is sent to external servers for AI processing.
6. Advertising
Free-tier users see banner advertisements served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data as described in Google's privacy policy. Premium users do not see advertisements, and no ad-related data is collected for premium accounts.
7. Data Export
Premium users can export their transaction data as CSV or PDF files. Exported files are generated locally on your device and shared using your device's native share functionality. We do not receive copies of exported files.
8. Data Security
Sensitive information such as authentication tokens is stored using platform-provided encrypted secure storage (Keychain on iOS, EncryptedSharedPreferences on Android). Financial data is stored in a local SQLite database on your device.
9. Children's Privacy
Money Hive is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
10. Data Deletion
You can delete all your data at any time from Settings > Clear All Data within the app. To delete your account and associated authentication data, contact us at support@moneyhive.app.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by the "Last updated" date at the top. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
