We, our projects and sustainability.

Hi, we are João and Miguel. We both come from an educational background in sciences. But above all, we come from experiences that strengthen our appreciation of nature and our resolve to make a positive contribution to the planet.

We have a strong and central commitment to sustainability. We know that the carbon footprint of tourism is very high, especially due to the transportation required. Nevertheless, the accommodation sector also has an important role to play in reducing this footprint.

The ideal solution to achieve the highest sustainability in our tourism accommodation would be to use dual plumbing for water management and to install renewable energy sources. These options are not possible though, due to our specific context of an old building, located in an historical area, with its specific regulations. As such, we focused on increasing efficiency in all appliances and applied thermal insulation to the building walls. The water taps are equipped with flow reducers. Nevertheless, these measures are not enough to achieve the sustainability we would like.

The biggest challenge is in water management. To moderate this impact, we rely on the support of our clients, asking them to be mindful when using this resource. As for the energy, we are fortunate to have available land for forest plantation. In the next few years we will plant enough trees so that their storage of carbon can offset the carbon footprint of our guests. We can safely say that we will be able to provide our guests with zero carbon footprint during their stay.

Our next project in this sector will be a mobile bungalow. It is being designed from the start, incorporating the best available solutions, so to provide the maximum of self-sufficiency in natural resources management. We are excited about this new venture and looking forward to seeing the outcome.
