"How exactly do we make money" & "All that... for this to happen?"
Finally came the end of the SECIP program after 10 absolutely amazing days of intensive and unique learning. Looking back at just how much I enjoyed these 10 days, I also realised that I've been able to retain so much information that was taught by numerous mentors. All the way from "Frugal Innovation" to the Australian Diplomats talking about issues in the country their respective mission was, from making paper prototypes to learning how to deliver a pitch, from learning new skills to understanding how to constructively take and use feedback, from learning my favourite part about this course, design thinking, to understanding impact modeling through the business model canvas.
My team and I held a zoom after program hours to further discuss how we'd actually make that profit we want to reinvest as a social enterprise, and we also clearly defined our "commercial and impact" under the various different categories. Our solution to finding funding was to work under the framework of the "National Migration Policy" which was recently launched by the government of India which would give us numerous advertisement rights at lower costs and tax concessions.
Our team's collaborated work on impact modeling
I have quite heavily reflected upon identifying problems and developing innovations for them unknowingly in my previous weeks so instead of repeating myself, I will add on and also reflect upon how our final pitch actually altered my idea of design thinking & finding solutions.
Our final pitch wasn't exactly... ideal. My laptop's microphone which worked perfectly fine for 3 weeks and till about 5 minutes before my turn to speak decided to make my voice really low till the point where people were struggling to hear me with full volume. A teammate of mine started presenting without realising they weren't unmuted and our speech didn't exactly meet the time limit.
Was I disappointed in myself? Initially, yes. Later in the day I realised, it really doesn't matter what grade we get? My team and I put in the effort to find a solution for a good cause, and we did well. I was proud of us. Our first pitch definitely gave me confidence in only explaining it further to more people & also gave me an opportunity to reflect upon 3 weeks of work in 5 minutes. You truly grasp the power of effort and how much research goes on behind the scenes while presenting to someone who is listening to your problem statement for the first time. Listening to other team pitches was very inspiring and also sprung up ideas on how maybe we could've done things differently. But at the end of the day, I do not regret anything and I'm extremely proud of my team and myself.

Significant Experience Reflection:
Most Personally Meaningful - Day 7: when our team's first rough pitch about our idea to the SECAP alumni who also turned out to be one of my favorite seniors. His feedback and amazing understanding of our problem statement meant a lot since I hadn't got the opportunity yet to go to campus and wanted to do something to prove myself to them. His feedback also proved helpful as my team and I had an "AHA!" moment in our solution stage then.
Most Satisfying - The coordination and the fact that my team and I were always on the same page helped our team progress forward with the same understanding at fast paces. We'd always carry out research without anyone taking the sole responsibility to do so and put it in a shared drive. I feel because everyone took assisted everyone, there was no sole responsibility or pressure or any one individual to complete a task.
Greatest Challenge - Coming to terms that I'd done enough and found the best possible solution. I learned that it's very important to reward yourself in order to move on and do better.
Most Significant Achievements - Learning all the new skills of CAD and theory of literally how to do business ethically are my takes away from SECIP. I'm now confident that I can identify a problem, do primary research, find a solution and build innovations.
