I promised to share this funny little moment in human intersecting that led to my interview with Bassam Aramin and Rami Elhanan, two fathers currently living in Palestine and Israel respectively. If you missed the interview, you have to recommend that you listen to it. I\u2019ve shared with Bassam and Rami some of the comments that have been sent to me regarding their podcast interview. They were super touched and have asked me to send you all their love.

While scrolling through my files, I found this love letter from Liam. I miss him so much. He seriously makes me wish I could go back in time and write about him again. I hope you enjoy this love letter as much as I enjoyed writing it. Stay tuned for letters from all the guys in the Salvation Series. I have a feeling Mark will be sharing something soon.

Joan and Tom Thompson have been married for many years; they keep their house in order and go about their routine lives. There is an ease to their relationship, and a deep love which manifests itself through tenderness and humour in equal measure. Tom owns a pet fish that Joan does not care for. They exercise by going on a long walk through town, turning back when they reach a newly planted sapling.

One evening while showering, Joan finds a mass on her breast. She and Tom head to the hospital, where she is diagnosed with breast cancer. Joan's doctor arranges for surgery to excise the mass and surrounding lymph nodes. On the day of Joan's surgery, Tom visits the grave of their daughter, Debbie, alone. He confesses to Debbie that he is scared of being left alone without his wife.

Joan's surgery goes well, and the doctors are able to remove all physical signs of cancer. They refer Joan to an oncologist to start chemotherapy. This leads to a disagreement between Joan and Tom about the nature of being "cancer-free". Tom sees that his fish has died and cries as he flushes it down the toilet. While waiting for her chemotherapy appointment, Joan sees Debbie's primary school teacher, Peter, waiting in the lobby. The two chat, and Peter reveals he has terminal cancer. Joan's name is called, and she undergoes her first treatment of chemotherapy. The next day, she vomits heavily.

Soon after, Joan's hair begins to fall out in clumps. Tom cuts her hair short and then shaves her head with a razor. Joan forgets which medication she is supposed to take on what day, leading to a vicious argument with Tom about how cancer is destroying their marriage. Donning a wig, Joan meets with Peter at a caf where they discuss their mortality. Feeling hot and silly, Joan takes her wig off. Tom meets a man smoking on a bench outside the chemotherapy clinic. A terminal cancer patient himself, the man reassures Tom that the doctors can save Joan.

Joan and Tom decide to have a romantic evening at a hotel before Joan's mastectomy. After enjoying a fancy dinner, they have sex. Tom promises to still love Joan even if she does not have breasts. Joan undergoes the mastectomy and more sessions of chemotherapy. Tom waits outside by the bench, but does not see the smoking man again. As Peter visits Joan, Tom meets Steve, Peter's husband, in the hospital cafeteria. They discuss their shared experiences around love and loss.

Some time later, Joan has undergone surgery to reconstruct her breasts using abdominal muscle tissue. She and Tom attend Peter's funeral, where Steve delivers a eulogy. After successfully completing her cancer treatment, Joan and Tom go to the supermarket in preparation for Christmas. Later they decide to invite Steve for Christmas dinner. They go on their exercise walk once more and find that the sapling has grown.

In April 2018, it was announced Liam Neeson and Lesley Manville had joined the cast of the film, with Lisa Barros D'Sa and Glenn Leburn directing from a screenplay by Owen McCafferty. Brian J. Falconer, David Holmes, Piers Tempest, will produce the film under their Out of Orbit, Canderblinks Films, and Tempo Productions, banners respectively.[4] In October 2018, it was announced David Wilmot and Amit Shah had joined the cast of the film.[5]

In December 2018, Bleecker Street acquired U.S. distribution rights to the film.[6] In March 2019, Focus Features acquired UK distribution rights to the film.[7] The film had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on 9 September 2019.[8] It was released in the United Kingdom on 6 December 2019.[9] It was released United States on 14 February 2020.[10]

Ordinary Love received positive reviews from film critics. It holds a 93% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 113 reviews, with an average of 7.6/10. The site's critical consensus reads, "Led by strong performances from Lesley Manville and Liam Neeson, Ordinary Love wrings heartrending drama out of one couple's medical travails."[11] On Metacritic, the film holds a rating of 70 out of 100, based on 25 critics, indicating "generally favorable reviews".[12]

"I think one of the elements that made that movie feel so special," she shared in a Sept. 1 TikTok, "was it was watching two very young people fall in love with each other, which was happening in real time and real life."

And indeed, Miley and Liam did take their chemistry offscreen, dating shortly after filming began on the Nicholas Sparks book adaptation, before becoming engaged in 2012. The pair were on-again, off-again for many years until they married in December 2018, before the Hunger Games actor filed for divorce in August 2019. Their split was finalized in January 2020.

"In 2008, I had to do another feature film for Disney," she explained. "And I didn't want it to be a part of Hannah Montana. Once we had written the screenplay, it was time to audition all the guys who would play Will, my boyfriend in the movie."

"The Meet Miley Cyrus record was really where I started writing my own songs as a solo artist," Miley said in an Aug. 29 TikTok. "And so I was working with a producer in Malibu that lived in a house in Ramirez Canyon, which I would've never known 15 years later I would be living in that house, which would eventually burn down."

"I think one of the elements that made that movie feel so special," she shared on TikTok in September 2023, "was it was watching two very young people fall in love with each other, which was happening in real time and real life."

"I didn't go all the way with a dude...I was 16," she said on an August 2020 episode of Barstool Sports' Call Your Daddy podcast, reflecting on her first hook-up. "I ended up marrying the guy, so that's pretty crazy."

After years of proving they were in no rush to get married, Miley and Liam surprised everyone by actually saying "I do" on Dec. 23, 2018, about six weeks after their Malibu home burned down amid a surge of wild fires in Southern California.

The fire "removed me from what no longer was serving its purpose," Miley reflected to Rolling Stone. "And then as you drown, you reach for that lifesaver and you want to save yourself. I think that's really what, ultimately, getting married was for me. One last attempt to save myself."

Similarly, she told Howard Stern in a December 2020 interview about how she went from losing a houseful of possessions to gaining a husband, "Me being an intense person and not wanting to sit with it and not wanting to go, you know, 'What could be purposeful about this?' I just clung to what I had left of that house, which was me and him. And I really do and did love him very, very, very much and still do, always will."

She continued, "I think of making music sometimes as a sacrifice because you end up writing songs that can hurt people, that can hurt one person but make you feel less alone. It's like, is it worth it? Is it worth writing music that's so honest? Dolly [Parton, her godmother] said there's two sides to every story. When you're telling your side of the story, is it fair? You don't make songs to hurt somebody, but they do. Songs like 'Angels Like You,' it's not easy for someone to listen to when they know it's about them. 'You're going to wish we never met on the day I leave.' Music can be a sacrifice."

Miley's sense of humor remained intact, such as when she came across a TikTok video featuring a couple kissing and dancing to "Plastic Hearts," the pair vowing on their post, "if miley cyrus comments we will get married."

Despite the constant vibe that Miley and Liam did not have one of those dramatic relationships behind the scenes, toward the end at least it became more apparent that they weren't meant to be together forever after all.

"A couple of years ago, it looked like I was living some fairy tale. It really wasn't," the "Midnight Sky" singer told Rolling Stone in November 2020 of what turned out to be the tail end of her relationship with Liam. "At that time, my experimentation with drugs and booze and the circle of people around me was not fulfilling or sustainable or ever going to get me to my fullest potential and purpose."

Miley acknowledged the old assumption that someone's life is going great so long as they're in a happy-looking relationship. "'She's got a man. She's living in a house playing wife,'" she mock-quoted her observers. "Dude, I was way more off my path at that time than any of the times before where my sanity was being questioned. I don't like ever saying anything in a very solid concrete way, but right now I have been focusing on sobriety as I wanted to wake up 100 percent, 100 percent of the time. If I've ever learned to balance myself and to not take it too far, I would. But so far any time I've messed with that, it hasn't gotten me what I want." 152ee80cbc
