The Schlimpert lab studies bacterial cell division and development in Streptomyces and related bacteria. Susan's group uses a combination of cell biology, molecular genetics, biochemistry and global ‘omics approaches.

The Lesterlin lab investigates the intracellular dynamics of the DNA and protein machineries involved in vertical and horizontal gene transfer. They use a combination of molecular genetics and microscopy imaging to observe the real-time dynamics of proteins and DNA in live bacterial cells.
