Hi, I'm Mohsina Asif! 

I am currently a postgraduate student at Imperial College London, studying MSc in Science Communication on the fully funded Chevening Scholarship.  As the highest scoring woman scholar from Pakistan in 2024, I was also awarded the Asma Jehangir Scholarship Award by the British High Commission in Islamabad.

I am also the Projects Manager (and the voice behind the Dr Zara character) at Kainaat Kids! Previously, I have been the Application Engineer at Physlab, LUMS (part of the PhysLogger team) and the Lead Science Communicator of the Khwarizmi Science Society (KSS) which is the largest and oldest science popularization movement of Pakistan.

At LUMS, we developed more than 20 low cost tools of scientific measurement and discovery for the schools, colleges, universities, and even laypersons of the country — the first of its kind in Pakistan! At KSS,  after spearheading numerous outreach activities, I helped organize the Lahore Science Mela 2023 and 2022.  The largest citizen science and technology festival of Pakistan, this two-day Mela (festival) was attended by over 100,000 people in 2023 and more than 75,000 people in 2022 and housed over 3000 unique demonstrations and performances. I have also co-founded and been associated with Spectra in a multitude of roles, having nurtured it like my own for over five years and playing my little role in introducing a culture of science journalism among the students of Pakistan. 

I am fortunate to have been mentored by the likes of Dr Muhammad Sabieh Anwar, both as the PI of Physlab and lead of KSS, and Dr Ali Hussain Kazim,  as my undergraduate research supervisor. 

My interests span across science outreach and journalism, educational reforms, engineering tools for scientific discovery and experimentation, and a tons of other things. In a nutshell, I just love to read, listen to, and take part in anything that allows me to grow and evolve. The awareness about how much I still don't know is what drives me everyday. This website is an attempt to put together my learnings, musings, and everything in between.
