Something I've been a part of for the past three years is being a staff member for the Ohio Association of Student Leaders. Through this organization, I've staffed multiple workshops and retreats that foster teamwork and leadership skills for students entering high school and college. Further, I developed a leadership curriculum that incorporated key themes of diversity, inclusion, interpersonal collaboration skills, and servant leadership.

While the work at camp was somewhat exhausting and emotionally tolling during the week, it was also something I would do a thousand times again as it was always eye-opening and amazing to see the profound impact it had on the middle school students I worked with. Seeing how they develop their organizational and time-management skills. Seeing how they learn nonverbal communication techniques and become a more effective communicator. Most importantly, seeing them break out of their shells and become a more confident person.

I hope to do more like this during my time at UC by working with organizations such as Chem Cats, going to underserved schools in the local area and teaching chemistry, because the thing that makes me feel accomplished, is saying I'm able to uplift or improve the life of someone else.
