Mohini Chowdhury (1920-1987) was a famous Bengali lyricist. He was born on 5th September to parents Motilal Chowdhury and Golapkamini Debi in Kotalipara, Faridpur of undivided Bengal. He completed matriculation from Ripon school of Kolkata in 1937 with a state rank of 19th. He completed ISc from Ripon college. In 1957 he passed BA in private.
Mohini's first record "Rajkumari Olo Nayanpata Kholo" was released in 1943. In 1944 he composed the lyrics for the movie Abhinoy Noy, directed by Shailajananda Mukhopadhyay. In the following years he also assisted in direction of several movies and produced and directed the movie "Sadhana".
Mohini joined the General post office in 1940 and worked there for 8 years. For a while he worked as secretary to scientist Meghnad Saha. In 1954 he joined industrialist Debendranath Bhattacharya as personal secretary in Banga Lakshmi Cotton Mills and worked there for 17 years.
