Moheskhola, South West Khasi Hills needs your help!
With all our heartbreaking and helpless call for you all, we are here from Moheshkhola, South West Khasi Hills to share a tragic horrible disaster of flood and landslide that our area had faced on 16th June Night 2022. Moheskhola is a far-flung region in extreme Bangladesh border under Ranikor Block in South West Khasi Hills of Meghalaya. More than 13 villages in Moheskhola area were badly affected on that night. Some villages were so badly affected that the whole village had to shift to a safe place, other cases are fully damages of houses, some village are fully covered by debris of landslide remain and now the victims are living simply homeless taking shelter in other houses or temporary relief camps. There are around 1000 homeless families altogether in South Garo Hills and South West Khasi Hills . Not only floods has caused the market to wash under water but numerous landslides around the hills and roads had made it really difficult for the people to get essential commodities, medicines and others. The National highway from Baghmara to Ranikor that is under construction was badly affected out of the disaster. Some bridges were collapsed some parts of Garo Hills.
Border road that serve as important transportation was also blocked in some parts which has been causing extreme difficulties for us to make movement. There is still incessant rainfalls which will last till the month of September which will only caused so many other problems for this affected area as there are many partially collapsed hills that are to definitely take its course.
Some schools which was located nearby river or stream were also affected badly others it just got partially damaged as such education of our children are halted. Several kinds of helps were extended to us by different agencies or organisation like Baghmara Krima No. III and Local MLA of Ranikor constituency has provided some reliefs,DC has given some essential commodities. It is our heartfelt thanks to them to their humanity act but as you all know that after such a massive disaster only an immediate relief cannot curate the consequences of the problems that starts to take its course. This disaster is giving some untold deadly blow in our lives and our poor tribal people who are daily wage earners are not at all capable to bear such massive pain and losses.
Provided with that, there are many things we still need to do like helping the homeless making some temporary home. Ever since the first day this disaster has occurred, the lives of people were totally got disturbed mentally and physically and occupationally. They cannot afford sufficient rice to eat, no safe drinking water is available, no light, people are repeatedly falling sick, suffering from dysentery, malaria and so on. Medicine shops are not finding ways to get supply, nearby dispensary is running short of medicine. In fact, the only dispensary building has also came under the list of one of the affected premises. Some victims are finding ways to get medicine from Bangladesh. But unfortunately the adjacent neighbouring Bangladesh had also faced the brunt of historic deadly disaster and tottering with same crisis as ours. We are helping them with whatever ways possible but covering all their needs alone has become impossible.
There are still many unseen and untold serious problems that only the victims are facing right now. They need CGI sheet, foods, medicines, drinking water, education has been stuck for almost a month now. Many precious properties like betel nut garden, pineapple garden, Bamboo garden and so on so forth of the people were vanished which was their only source of income. As such the livelihood and resettlement has become mammoth task. This is obviously making them undergo starvation.
As we have started this mission with an aim to help our people living under horrific condition we want to attract your kind hearts to take part in this mission with us. Dear friends and parents and responsible citizens we really need your precious help at this moment. Many helpless people are coming to us every day crying heavily to do something for them. But we are really helpless at this moment. We are extending whatever help we could.
Now we looking forward to start a mission of providing some CGI Sheets, tarpaulin, some money to the poor victims, solar panel for poor students to study, mosquito net, first aid medicines for dysentery, fever. necessary foods for the needy. But we alone is impossible. Our humble request to all the elite and responsible citizens of our state and nation as whole through this message to take part in this humanity mission to rescue the suffering of our poor tribal citizens of this Moheskhola area.We are an organisation from Moheskhola and we believe that in this mission for humanity cause requesting you all to help our victims is not only our responsibility but also a humanity duty.
