H-Axis Wind Turbine design with Blade Element Method (BEM)
In this project we designed a Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine, by considering all the data needed for having the highest efficiency for the project. We accurately chose the best site in Italy by considering the annual average wind velocity, National Regulations, environmental laws, NIMBY and etc. then we chose the best profiles from HUB to TIP of blades by analyzing the experimental data for it. then by using Glauert distribution and calculating all the needed data by MATLAB, such as: main Geometries, Fluid characteristics, Blade profiles, Reynolds, velocity triangles, lift and drag coefficients, and profile interpolation over the blade, we found the best chord distribution and pitch angle for our turbine.
