Welcome to my webpage!
I am a Ph.D. candidate in Economics at Iowa State University.
My primary research interest centers on macroeconomic growth and development in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), where I seek to understand the institutions underlying the economic environment and their impacts on economic development. My current focus is on structural transformation and fertility. My current research explores property rights and fertility, property right and rural-urban migration, and agricultural technology adoption.
These research questions are informed by my personal experiences growing up in rural SSA, which instill a profound connection to the region and the questions I seek to address.
I am on the job market and available for interviews. I can be contacted at msalat@iastate.edu
