BUDGET ALLOCATION - RM 13.5 BILLION

ENHANCEMENT OF INFRASTRUCTURES AND FACILITIES

RM 5.5 billion (40.1% of the budget)

Approximately 10,000 schools are targeted to benefit on average RM550,000 per school.

Beneficiaries are to be supported in the areas mentioned (but not limited to) as follows:

  • Transportation amenities

  • Safe and conducive buildings

  • Labs for natural sciences and tech vocations

  • Information and communication technology (ICT)

  • School-bound residences (asrama)

EMPOWERMENT OF STUDENTS THROUGH MENTORING

RM 2 billion (14.8% of the budget)

Approximately 5.85 million students are targeted to benefit on average RM300 per person*

Beneficiaries are to be supported in the areas mentioned (but not limited to) as follows:

  • Academic affairs

  • Psychological, emotional, and mental health

  • Goal-setting

  • Career paths

  • Role-modelling

INVESTMENT IN PROFESSIONALISM OF TEACHERS

RM 1 billion (7.4% of the budget)

Approximately 400,000 teachers are targeted to benefit on average RM2,500 per person*

Beneficiaries are to be supported in the areas mentioned (but not limited to) as follows:

  • Provision of study and sabbatical leave

  • Funding of on-going professional development

  • Incentivization through a higher salary

  • Autonomy and accountability

COMPREHENSIVE LEVERAGE THROUGH FINANCIAL SUPPORT

RM 4.95 billion (36.67% of the budget)

Approximately 5.85 million students are targeted to benefit on average RM 850 per person*

Beneficiaries are to be supported in the areas mentioned (but not limited to) as follows:

  • Free healthy food programmes

  • More just systems of scholarships distributions and loan administration

  • Subsidies for reference books, mobile data, and laptops

STAKEHOLDERS' INVOLVEMENT IN THE POLICYMAKING PROCESS

RM 50 million (0.37% of the budget)

There will be engagement sessions (town halls) and financial implications to improve the legal system.

Beneficiaries are to be supported in the areas mentioned (but not limited to) as follows:

  • Student representation in the decision-making process

  • Parental roles in creating a supportive environment

  • Provision of suitable autonomy to school leaders and teachers

  • Joint-ventures with relevant industry players to equally promote science and non-science stream jobs
