PRIVACY POLICY FOR MODULAS
Effective Date: August 17, 2026
Modulas ("the App", "we", "us", "our") is an education app for schools and
classrooms that connects Teachers and Students for classroom management,
exams, and notices. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App
collects, how it is used, and how it is protected.
By creating an account or using Modulas, you agree to the collection and use
of information as described in this policy.
1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
a) Account Information
- Email address and password (used for sign-in via Firebase Authentication)
- Full name and mobile number
- Role (Teacher or Student)
b) Profile Information
- Profile photo (optional, chosen from your device's gallery; you can
crop, rotate, and apply basic filters to it before it is saved)
- Teacher: achievement/bio text, subjects taught, a unique 5-digit
Teacher Code generated for your account
- Student: parent/guardian name, the Teacher Code you registered with,
assigned class and subject, and your account status
(Pending / Active / Inactive, set by your teacher)
c) Classroom & Exam Data
- Class and subject assignments linking students to their teacher
- Exams created by teachers: test name, scheduled date and time,
duration, class/subject, photographed question-paper images, and the
answer key
- Student exam activity: selected answers, submission time, and score
- A device identifier (Android ID) is recorded against each exam attempt.
This is used only to prevent a single device from being used to take
the same exam under more than one student account, and is not used for
advertising, tracking, or any purpose outside the app.
d) Technical Information
- App version, used on launch to check whether an update is available
We do not collect precise location data, contacts, camera/microphone
recordings, browsing history, or any information beyond what is listed
above. Modulas does not contain advertising or third-party analytics SDKs.
2. HOW WE USE INFORMATION
We use the information collected to:
- Create and manage Teacher and Student accounts
- Connect students to the correct teacher, class, and subject
- Let teachers create, publish, and grade exams, and let students take
them and view their results
- Show relevant notices and classroom information
- Prevent a single device from submitting an exam under multiple student
identities
- Notify users when a newer version of the app is available
- Maintain the security and proper functioning of the App
3. WHERE YOUR DATA IS STORED
Modulas is built on Google Firebase. Account credentials, classroom and
exam data are stored in Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore;
profile photos and exam-paper images are stored in Firebase Storage. This
data is hosted on Google's cloud infrastructure and is protected by
Firebase's standard security and access-control rules. We do not sell,
rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing
purposes.
4. DATA SHARING
Information within Modulas is only visible to the people who need it to
use the app as intended, for example:
- A teacher can see the profile and exam results of students enrolled
under their Teacher Code and selected class/subject.
- A student can see their own profile, their teacher's class/subject
information, and their own exam results.
The App includes optional "Share" features (for example, sharing your
Teacher Code or a link to the App) that use your device's own share sheet.
These only share what you explicitly choose to share, and only when you
tap the share button yourself.
5. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
Modulas is designed for use within schools, under the supervision of
teachers and educational institutions. Student accounts are created using
a Teacher Code provided by a teacher, and a Parent/Guardian name is
collected as part of student registration. If you are a school,
teacher, or parent/guardian and believe a student account has been created
without appropriate consent, please contact us using the details below so
we can address it.
6. DATA RETENTION AND DELETION
We retain account and classroom data for as long as the account is active
so the App can function correctly (e.g., displaying past exam results). If
you would like your account or personal data deleted, contact us at the
email below and we will process the request.
7. YOUR CHOICES
- You can update your profile photo at any time from your Profile
screen.
- You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your
personal data by contacting us.
8. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as the App changes.
Continued use of Modulas after changes are made constitutes acceptance of
the updated policy.
