High Performance material is recommended for commercial, contract, and hospitality projects. It is also an excellent choice for high traffic areas in residential projects or anywhere else that extra durability would come in handy.

In Ubuntu 20.04, I use a custom png file that graphically displays stats on CPU usage, disk space, etc as background image. It works fine to set the image as background (right click on desktop -> Settings -> Background -> Add Picture).

When you set a background from a custom graphic, a copy of it is created in your .local/share/backgrounds folder. That copy is being used as the background. You therefore need to modify that copy to make it work.

The desktop will automatically update if the file is modified in place or if another graphic is copied over the file (cp ), i.e., provided the file inode does not change. Deleting the file or moving it, and then rename another will not work: your background will turn black. Only setting it back using the settings or logging out then back in will restore it in that case.

inotifywait does not waste CPU resources to check for changes when the file hasn't been edited. Instead, it only returns a value when the file has been changed. This means we can use it in a while loop:

This script starts an instance of inotifywatch to watch out for changes to the metadata (attrib) of the original background image file. When the metadata finally changes, inotifywatch terminates, and returns a true value. This trigger the copying action inside the loop, and then a new instance of inotifywatch is started at the beginning of the while loop again.

You can then run this script from the terminal, which would then detach itself and print any outputs and errors into /tmp/nohub-inotifywait.out. Then this while loop will still exist in the background even after you've closed the terminal.

The Windows login screen is not meant to be modified as a design decision by Microsoft. Making changes to it essentially requires hacking Windows in an unsafe and unstable manner. This means that if a Windows update modifies the lock screen or if the app crashes, you would be unable to login to your computer entirely. The feature could potentially stop working at any time, causing unpredictable side effects.

If Microsoft officially makes this possible or if we discover a safe way to add live wallpapers to the Windows lock screen, we will implement this feature. Currently, there are no known safe ways to accomplish this, which is why live wallpapers cannot be set on the lock screen by Wallpaper Engine.

However, you can still configure Wallpaper Engine to override the static lock screen image with a snapshot of your current live wallpaper. To do this, enable the Override lock screen image option in the General tab of the Wallpaper Engine settings.

As an alternative to relying on the lock screen, we suggest setting up Wallpaper Engine as a screensaver in combination with the On resume, display logon screen option enabled in the Windows screensaver settings. See our screensaver guide on how to configure Wallpaper Engine as your screensaver:

Last week, Apple announced incredible updates for iOS 14, macOS Big Sur, and other platforms. Along with new operating systems come new official Apple wallpapers. Taking a next step, this wallpaper collection features modifications of the official wallpapers. If you are looking for a new way to spice up your wallpaper experience, while still celebrating the updates, check out this collection.

Honestly, I like these a lot better than the stock iOS 14 wallpapers. I think the whole, round-sphere-that-covers-half-of-the-screen is a bit played out, having originated as a wallpaper style with the launch of iPhone XS. The design was a way for Apple to hide the notch with a cleverly placed wallpaper image.

Wallpaper pastes have a typical shear thinning viscosity and a high wet adhesive tack.[citation needed] These properties are needed to slow down the penetration of the adhesive into the paper and wall, and give slow bonding speed which gives the wallpaper hanger time to line up the wallpaper correctly on the wall. The adhesive is usually sold in pouches or boxes as flakes that are mixed with water to produce the paste, it is also available ready mixed in tubs.

As for the "feature not a bug" aspect: what it is is nonsensical User Interface, as if Apple has no master UI plan, UI standards, or formal user testing beyond superusers trying out betas. A "setting" like this that appears without any intentional actions should have been evaluated and rejected in the design phase (if such a phase has any rigor at Apple.) All this especially since it's connected to the Focus UI subsystem, already way too complicated and incomprehensible.

That's just the problem: it's a "cool" feature. The need to constantly provide "cool" new features and "better" models of phones is more important than making them simply usable. The market is not 100% comprised of 25-year old guys.

Two things that work for me with this annoying feature is to disable touch to wake. So you have to push the side button and then slide up to open and/ change the haptic rate from fast to slow. This means the press on the screen needs a longer press to activate the change wallpaper.

This week, a pre-release Windows 11 build made it to the public. Version 21380 was never publicly announced, so enthusiasts did what enthusiasts do and went deep into the build's guts to see what was inside the early Windows 11 build. They uncovered a weird mix of Windows 10 and 11 and a unique default wallpaper.

Unlike public Windows 11 builds and their Bloom wallpaper, pre-release version 21380 has a modified Windows 10 wallpaper (via @XenoPanther), different from what we used to see before. It is the third variant of the picture Microsoft introduced in 2015 (here is how the company created it), with slightly dimmer lights and toned-down colors.

We do not know the story behind this wallpaper, but some may say it represents the end of the Windows 10 era with its lights going down. Regardless, it is a neat wallpaper and great addition to your stock picture collection. Other than the new picture, build 21380 does not feature anything groundbreaking or previously unseen. And like most pre-release builds, it will contain bugs and unfinished features.

This is not the first Windows 11 pre-release build leaking to the public, nor the first prototype wallpaper. In the Summer of 2021, just several days before Windows 11's public debut, build 21996 spilled the beans on the upcoming OS and revealed some of its features. In 2022, users discovered an early "petal-like" version of the stock Bloom wallpaper.

If you want more awesome wallpapers for your PC, check out this official modern take on the iconic Windows XP "Bliss" wallpaper. Also, someone decided to look at what is beneath the Bloom wallpaper and extended the picture using the power of artificial intelligence. Finally, Microsoft is working on AI-powered effects for desktop backgrounds. Although the feature is not available for testing yet, you can check it out in action here. 152ee80cbc
