Modesmith Launcher ("Modesmith", "we", "our", or "us") is an Android launcher app published by the Modesmith Launcher developer. This Privacy Policy explains how Modesmith Launcher handles information when you use the app.

The developer contact email or support URL listed for Modesmith Launcher on Google Play.
Modesmith Launcher is designed to work locally on your device. The app does not include advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, cloud sync, user accounts, or developer-operated servers. It uses Google Play services for optional Pro purchases and Play-managed app updates. Modesmith does not sell personal or sensitive user data.
Some launcher features require access to information already on your device, such as your installed apps, optional contacts, notification badge status, widgets, wallpapers, and local launcher settings. Except for Android system services that you enable, this information is stored and used on your device.
Modesmith accesses information about launchable apps on your device so it can provide launcher features such as the Home screen, app search, A-Z app list, mode-based favorites, Always apps, hidden apps, per-mode visibility rules, app launching, icon styles, icon packs, and work profile app support where Android exposes work profile apps.
This may include app names, package names, activity names, app icons, profile identifiers, and app selections you configure in Modesmith. Modesmith stores the launcher configuration you create, including mode names, mode colors, app assignments, schedules, visibility rules, hidden apps, custom app names, manual override state, widget IDs, wallpaper preferences, notification badge preferences, onboarding state, and display preferences.
Modesmith uses this information only to provide launcher functionality on your device.
If you enable Contact search and grant the Android Contacts permission, Modesmith reads your contacts so matching contacts can appear in launcher search. Modesmith uses contact display names, Android contact lookup URIs, and optional contact thumbnail photo URIs for this feature.
Modesmith does not upload your contacts, sell your contacts, or store your contact list in its local database. Contacts are used locally for search and to open the selected contact in your device's contacts app. If you turn off Contact search or revoke the Contacts permission, contact search stops working.
If you enable notification badges or Smart Pill features that need Android Notification access, Modesmith uses notification listener access to show badge counts on launcher icons and media controls in the launcher. Modesmith uses the app package and Android profile associated with active notifications to calculate badge counts.
If you enable the Guest Mode setting to hide hidden app notifications, Modesmith uses notification listener access to dismiss notifications from apps hidden by Guest Mode visibility rules while Guest Mode is active. Dismissed notifications may not return after Guest Mode is turned off, and some ongoing notifications may not be dismissible by Android.
Modesmith does not store notification titles, message text, sender names, or notification content. Badge and media state information is kept locally in memory or local settings where needed and is cleared or stops updating when notification access is disabled.
Modesmith includes an optional Accessibility Service for launcher actions you choose, such as locking the screen or opening the notification shade from Home gestures or dock quick actions. Before opening Android Accessibility settings, Modesmith shows an in-app disclosure explaining why this access is requested.
Modesmith does not use the Accessibility Service to read screen content, collect text, monitor app usage, record user actions, or collect data. The service is not required for normal launcher use and can be disabled in Android Accessibility settings.
If you enable the Calendar Smart Pill and grant Android Calendar permission, Modesmith reads the next calendar event title, date, and time locally so it can show the next event in the Home dock. Modesmith does not upload calendar events, use them for advertising or analytics, or store your calendar content in developer-operated servers. If you turn off the Calendar Smart Pill or revoke Calendar permission, calendar event display stops working.
Modesmith may ask Android to show a device credential prompt for Guest Mode Lock, protected Modesmith settings, or protected Android Settings shortcuts opened from Modesmith. Android handles this authentication. Modesmith does not receive, store, or transmit your PIN, password, pattern, fingerprint, or face data.
If you choose a mode wallpaper image, Modesmith stores the Android content URI for the selected image so it can display that wallpaper locally. Modesmith uses Android's Storage Access Framework and does not request broad file storage access.
If you add a top Home widget, Modesmith stores the Android app widget ID needed to display that widget. Widget content is provided by the widget's own app.
If you export or import a backup, Modesmith uses the file location you select. Exported backups are local JSON files that may include your Modesmith settings, modes, schedules, app package/activity identifiers, hidden app rules, visibility rules, wallpaper URI references, icon preferences, and other launcher configuration. Modesmith does not upload backup files. Anyone with access to an exported backup file may be able to see the launcher configuration inside it.
Modesmith may store recent app keys locally for launcher convenience. If you enable app usage learning, Modesmith stores local app launch counts so app ranking can adapt on your device. This information is not uploaded or shared by Modesmith.
Modesmith may read Android's next alarm time to display it on the launcher and in the optional upcoming alarm Smart Pill. If you enable the Connected Device Smart Pill, Modesmith may read locally connected Bluetooth audio device names and battery percentages when Android provides them. Modesmith can also open Android screens or other apps for actions you start, such as opening Settings, Calendar, Clock, Contacts, wallpaper settings, Bluetooth settings, app uninstall, or notification settings. Modesmith does not collect alarm details beyond the next alarm time shown on the launcher, Bluetooth scan/location data, or data from those external apps.
Modesmith uses Google Play Billing for optional Pro purchases and Google Play's in-app update APIs to check whether a Play Store update is available. These Google Play services may use network access and Google account/payment infrastructure controlled by Google. Modesmith stores only local entitlement state needed to show whether Pro access is active, pending, cached, or unavailable.
Modesmith does not collect or transmit the following to us:
Account information.
Email address, phone number, or profile information.
Location.
Calendar content on developer-operated servers. Calendar event title and time are read locally only if you enable the Calendar Smart Pill and grant Calendar permission.
Photos or files, except image references you choose for wallpaper display.
Contact data, except local access for optional contact search.
Notification content.
Web browsing history.
Advertising identifiers.
Analytics or crash analytics events.
Modesmith does not include ads, third-party analytics SDKs, crash analytics SDKs, or social tracking SDKs.
Modesmith does not sell personal or sensitive user data.
Modesmith does not share your personal or sensitive user data with advertisers, analytics providers, data brokers, or other third parties for marketing or profiling.
Because Modesmith does not operate developer servers for the app, we generally do not have access to your local launcher data. Data may be handled by Android system services or apps you choose to use with Modesmith, such as Android Contacts, Notification access, Accessibility settings, Storage Access Framework, AppWidgetHost, Android system backup, Google Play Billing, Google Play app updates, or selected widget providers. Those services and apps are governed by their own privacy practices.
We may disclose information if required by applicable law or a valid legal request, but because Modesmith stores launcher data locally and does not operate app servers, we normally do not possess your on-device data.
Depending on your device settings, Android system backup may back up app data associated with Modesmith Launcher through Android or Google backup services. This may include local launcher settings stored by the app. Android system backup is controlled by your device and Google account settings, not by Modesmith's own servers.
Modesmith stores app data in Android-provided local app storage, including local database and preferences storage. Android app sandboxing helps limit access by other apps. Runtime permissions are requested when needed for optional sensitive features, such as Contacts permission for Contact search, Calendar permission for the Calendar Smart Pill, or Nearby Devices permission for the Connected Device Smart Pill.
Modesmith does not transmit your launcher data to developer-operated servers. Google Play services used for billing and updates may communicate with Google. User-exported backup files are not encrypted by Modesmith, so you should store them only in locations you trust.
Modesmith keeps local launcher configuration on your device until you change it, delete it in the app where available, clear the app's storage, or uninstall the app.
You can delete Modesmith's local data by using Android system settings to clear the app's storage or by uninstalling Modesmith Launcher. If you exported a backup file, deleting the app will not delete that backup file; you must delete exported files from the location where you saved them. If Android system backup is enabled, backed-up app data may remain subject to your Android or Google backup settings.
Optional access can be disabled at any time:
Disable Contact search in Modesmith settings or revoke Contacts permission in Android settings.
Disable notification badges or Guest hidden-notification dismissal in Modesmith settings, or revoke Notification access in Android settings.
Disable the Accessibility Service in Android Accessibility settings.
Remove widgets or wallpaper references from Modesmith settings.
Modesmith Launcher is a general launcher utility and is not directed to children. Modesmith does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We may update this Privacy Policy when Modesmith Launcher changes or when legal, regulatory, or platform requirements change. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and publish the updated policy.
