**this was an entry posted by me a few months ago. When I found it again, I reread it and thought it was fun enough to share. So here it is!
I’m the sort of person that screams “YOLO!” and dives nose first into a project with the vaguest plans (except when I’m writing, but my “planning” should be called improvising instead). My pencil makes the first mark, then I somehow make my vague plan work with that mark. No, I don’t write down every single step, and even if I’m writing, I jot down all my ideas in an incoherent jabber only I understand.
Kind of like what I hope I'm not doing now. Smh.
Shall I make the bold acclaim that if I wasn’t forced to plan every. Single. Step, I would’ve finished several artworks, dusted them off, then posted them on Instagram, #nofilter ?
Projects that involve creative design shouldn’t be shoved into a tube. Everyone’s different, and their creativity is tailored to it. If a tube works for someone, good for him/her. If spending more time writing down the plan than putting it into action works for someone, I’m happy for him/her!
Personally, I believe my art taste–well, let’s go on a stretch and say creativity–is much more than decent. It might not suit everyone, but for me, I’m contented. Thus, naturally, activities that stimulate the right brain would attract me. But, forcing creativity into a tube, restraining it in chains just won’t make it fly.
