I was annoyed that when I wanted to print a puzzle from my iPhone, I could *NOT* find a way to get the PDF file. I guess NYT has seen fit to remove the Print button from mobile devices, for some weird reason. No really, people still print, and sometimes they want to do it from a mobile device instead of a desktop/laptop.

Full disclosure - I am the creator of the app. If you are interested in crossword puzzles, I would very much appreciate any feedback. And this is a new app, so if you happen to run into any bugs, please email me. I did not feel comfortable having worldly ads, so I do have an optional subscription to help cover development costs. But there are plenty of crosswords to do without the subscription. Hope you enjoy it!

Sweet! Based on your account name, I assume you're already aware; but the organization used to add crosswords to magazines. They made plenty of them; maybe you could draw some inspiration for more crosswords from there.

Thank you so much for subscribing! The app should save progress. Make sure when you exit a crossword you do so with the 'X' in the corner or the back button. Currently just closing the app may cause you to lose progress. That is a known issue we should have fixed hopefully in the next few weeks.

There are a few strategies you can use to help you solve those tricky clues. For example, Wordplay is a technique that is commonly used in crossword puzzles to create clues that are both interesting and challenging. This technique involves using various word games such as puns, homophones, anagrams, and double meanings to make the puzzle more engaging and tricky for the solver.

Anagrams involve rearranging the letters of a word or phrase to create a new word or phrase that is the answer to the clue. For instance, a clue for the word "listen" could be "Silent," which is an anagram of "listen." Double meanings, on the other hand, involve using a word or phrase that has more than one meaning to create a clue that can be interpreted in multiple ways. A clue for the word "bark" could be "Tree covering?" where the answer could be "bark" as in the outer layer of a tree, or "bark" as in the sound a dog makes. We held a virtual hackfest a few weekends ago! Four people showed up, and we focused on getting this release out the door. We got most of the last release blockers done during it. Davide added Italian puzzle sets and translations, and fixed the packit CI. Rosanna finished the GNOME Mini Crosswords set and started a new, alphabetically-themed one. Federico documented how to run crosswords out of podman and got the Arrowword SVG overlay themed and working. I landed the final fixes for the tagging, and landed a bunch of build fixes to the puzzle sets.

Regex Crossword Mobile is the app version of Regex Crossword, the popular regular expression crossword game. To work on a mobile device the whole UX had to be reimagined to support touch and a smaller screen size. It has an interactive tutorial to introduce newcomers to regular expressions and an improved puzzle builder allowing the community to contribute both grid and hexagonal puzzles. A leaderboard tracks the top 50 players.

The internet is full of useful and free services for a myriad of areas, and we just need to find out which services fit our need. In our case, we needed some online English dictionary to provide the clues for the crosswords. I hope the following article may be of help for those looking for similar kind of applications.

It's important to notice that the crossword puzzle is not generated by this application. I would take a big "word list" and a good algorithm to do that in your app. Instead, we're going to keep our application lean and light, and resort to the internet to do the hard work for us. This means that the puzzle must be generated somewhere else, by some website. The website I chose is from the MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) and provided by Professor Robert Morris.

Professor Morris has provided a very nice online crossword generator, where you can pass the empty cells via query string. The generator will assume that the cells not provided are "blocked" cells, so these particular cells will remain empty.

The HTML generated by the crossword puzzle generator is quite simple. But we are not really interested in HTML tags, so we must first get rid of all those table, tr and td mark ups, so that we end up with the letters that will make up our crossword:

Now that we have the puzzle, we should provide the user with clues. Unfortunately, we can't use the same website that generated the crossword grid to provide us with the clues. In this case, we should look for some sort of "online English dictionary". I found a good one hosted by , and I'm sure the readers looking for online dictionary resources will find it very helpful as well.

Here is the core of the dictionary webservice request: for each split word in the crossword grid, we do a request and when the web service returns a definition for a specific word, the callback method client_DefineInDictCompleted is called and the result is parsed:

I'm not usually a review a product person! But, this one deserves it. We are loving it. It was for my 82 year old aunt who fell in her driveway and wasn't found until the next morning. This little device has been amazing, exceeding all expectations I had in mind. No matter where she goes we can see her exact location, get instant update notifications from the app when she's on the move, leaves home and when she returns. She still has her freedom but we finally have a peace of mind. The audio is more than loud enough and very clear! It's had no issues getting wet in the shower or pouring rain. Very light weight but not flimsy. This device is also all in one, meaning it has no base, no parameters to stay within. It tracks her everywhere. She docks it on the charger at night within easy reach. I highly recommend this device!!

As part of the Urgent Response and Lively Link services, Lively uses geolocation information from your device. For Urgent Response, we use location information from your device to help determine your location so that our care agents can provide location information to third-party providers, including emergency responders and/or your authorized emergency contacts in case of an emergency. For Lively Link, with your permission, family and friends can view your location and changes in your daily activity.

The device that makes your home smarter can now also help make it safer. If you have an Amazon Alexa device, the same Urgent Response Agents who'll respond at the touch of a button on your Lively Mobile Plus can also be there by simply saying "Alexa, call for help." It provides an extra level of safety if you're not wearing your Lively Mobile Plus or need to get up at night while your device is charging.
