I'm able to SSH to into other machines using MobaXterm, but when I try to run the Local terminal, the Tab just opens and closes all by its own. Am I missing something like a config file ? I tried running it as an Admin as well, but no luck.

I am on Windows 7 Enterprise Edition 64bit and started with MobaXterm v9.0. I tried totally uninstalling MobaXterm v9.0 (including deleting the CygUtils plugin) and then installing the latest MobaXterm v9.1 and CygUtils plugin. However, the same problem persists.

In addition to having CygUtils.plugin in the same directory as MobaXterm.exe (or MobaXterm_Personal_10.5.exe in my case), you may need to set your MobaXterm home directory (and possibly root directory) to Windows folders to which you have modify access. You can do this in MobaXterm by going to Settings->Configuration->General and setting the "Persistent home directory" and "Persistent root (/) directory" to the folders of your choice. Worked for me. I was inspired to try this by stumbling on Where does MobaXterm keep its home directory?

I encountered the same issue. The problem was due to a dll conflict between cygwin and mobaxterm (which is delivered with an integrated cygwin). I removed the path of original cygwin from the %PATH% environment variable, rebooted the PC, and everything works fine now.

To further explain, I have logging setup such that all terminal activity gets saved to a file in a directory of my choosing. So say I've typed out some commands & those are logged to the file. That's great. Now I want to be able to specify that all further commands typed in & whatever the result output shown on the terminal is, should be logged to a new file.

This works for specific sessions or the top-level global configuration. I also wanted to know if there was a way to define the type of file output? For example, when you get this same information manually by right-clicking on the session tab and select the "save terminal output" command, you can then choose the "Rich Text Document" or "Plain Text" under the "Save as type:" drop-down field before clicking the save button. The file created by the auto logging is plain text.

I am coming from Windows, where I ran the program MobaXTerm.

Essentially I used it as an SSH client (though it has other uses). It has a great feature of showing the files and directories on the left hand side, while showing the terminal on the right side of the screen. This let me execute Linux commands from the terminal as well as easily drag and drop files.

Filezilla doesn't have a terminal I can execute commands on, but I like the drag and drop file usage.

PuTTY has a great terminal for command-line execution, but does not have a drag and drop feature that lets me easily view, create, delete, and access files/directories.

At the time of writing this, the MobaXterm portable version could be downloaded from here.Once you have installed wine on your linux distro, you simply need to unzip the file downloaded from the above link (thus revealing the portable exe) and run the exe as:

I'd recommend terminator mobaxterm was my terminator replacement when I shifted back to Windows. You won't find a drag and drop window like you have in windows unfortunately but the hot keys in terminator - oh how I miss the hot keys.

I am using MobaXTerm to SSH into my remote Ubuntu server. The server already has Byobu installed and running. I noticed that for the STFP feature, the "follow terminal window" feature doesn't work. It defaults to my home directory and I have to move it manually. When I uninstalled Byobu it still didn't work. Does this feature work with Byobu installed? Or otherwise how do you get this work?

I had the same problem with the "follow terminal window" feature - regardless to Byobu. In my case I had command in my /etc/bashrc file who print output to the screen (specifically in my case: ntpdate). After I added ' > /dev/null 2>&1' after that command the sftp and the "follow terminal window" feature works fine.May be that Byobu is adding prints with every connection - in that case it may cause failure in the stfp.

I wrote about some of these issues in more detail in the ConEmu vs Hyper article. The cursor bug and CPU resource consumption makes it unusable for day to day usage. I had it get as high as 70% CPU usage just from having terminals open.

Also, one great thing about this tmux strategy is it works on Windows, MacOS and Linux because tmux is running inside of your existing terminal. That means all you have to do is find a good light weight terminal for your OS and all of your tmux keybindings and terminal usage patterns will work the same everywhere.

I can use git from PowerShell as usual. However, after I updated RStudio, when I try to push from the RStudio terminal, git tries to use the username "git" to log into my company's GitLab. I am pretty bad at git, so I don't know how to fix this. Do I have to configure something in the RStudio menus?

This is what I see from the RStudio terminal. It asks me for a password (it shouldn't, because I have it all stored in Credential Manager) and my password doesn't work. Is it trying to log me in with username "git"? I'm not sure.

This is what I see from a different terminal program (Moba XTerm). The git push is successful. Using my credentials from Credential Manager. Why is the RStudio terminal behaving differently from this terminal?

The user.name and user.email are configured correctly. I can see them with git config --list. I believe that actually the user.name in git config has nothing to do with the user name for logging into the repo. Instead, that's controlled by the SSH key. Maybe I'm wrong!

Hello there. I am coming over from MobaXterm and I really enjoy how they handle their SCP browser with any SSH connection. With each SSH connection made, there is a small panel to the left, which can also follow your path within the SSH terminal. Any way something like this could be implemented? I recognize once can right-click on the entry and select "Connect using SFTP". However, doing so opens a new window altogether and requires one to move it horizontally. Even then, the window takes up so much real estate due to showing the local path, as well. Finally, what I like about MobaXterm is that if I the SCP browser stays dedicated with the terminal view and doesn't follow when you click on an RDP window (unlike Royal TS where I would need to exit from horizontal view to accomplish this).

The mobilization region of the 7.4 kb beta-lactamase plasmid pSJ7.4 from Neisseria gonorrhoeae was characterized. The 3.2 kb HindIII-BamHI fragment of pSJ7.4 was mobilized between Escherichia coli strains by conjugative plasmid RK2. Selected restriction enzyme-generated deletions of this fragment were subcloned in pACYC177 to obtain constructs that were suitable for analysis of the mobilization region. Mating experiments showed that a highly conserved 1.9 kb DNA region within coordinates 4096-5997 is required for mobilization of pSJ7.4. This region contains two genes encoding the mobilization protein MobA, another protein, MobC, putatively involved in mobilization from some hosts, and an intergenic oriT. The 168 bp intergenic sequence also contains the promoters for mobA and mobC in an arrangement that suggests divergent transcription and autoregulation from oriT. The 56 kDa MobA was expressed in E. coli as a (6x)His-Tag fusion protein. Purified MobA specifically induced plasmid relaxation by nicking at the oriT. MobA is exceptional because the N-terminal region alone can mobilize pSJ7.4, albeit at a lower frequency than the full-length protein, even in the absence of MobC. The carboxyl terminal region of MobA did not share homology with other mobilization proteins, but may be involved in promoting efficient transfer of pSJ7.4.

We are currently deploying DynamicConnect for access to AIX 5.3 and we are in the process of updating solutions. We have about 70 Windows clients that will be uisng an emulator to access an app on the RHEL 8 Server. Any guidance would be very appreciated.

It has all the things you want in a terminal emulator, plus it also provides an X11 (XWindows) server on Windows for X11 forwarding. The one issue though with RHEL8, it uses Wayland/GNOME so X11 forwarding within the environment may be a little more tricky.

How can I do it? Edit 2 files on 2 different terminals (SSH sessions) with multiexec option and copy more text than I can see on terminal. I can not highlight it in any vim mode to copy it to my laptop notepad or other terminal SSH session window.

Trying to run SQLcl 17.4.0.354.2224 within the MobaXterm terminal, which is a super useful tool for Linux-ey types. I can probably find another way to run this from Windows, but I'm specifically wanting to run it from MobaXterm.

First, make sure you have already completed the configuration step in your .ssh/config for proxied connections (Direct Mode). Then you can transfer files, such as data sets or application files, directly to Discover or Dirac from your terminal. For file transfer to Dirac, replace every instance of "discover" below with "dirac".

If rsync is available on your client, it might be a better alternative to scp because say if there is a network issue, you can still finish a given transfer (and it should work with the standard bastion configuration for ssh). For example:$ rsync -av --progress --partial /my/file.txt userid@discover.nccs.nasa.gov:"/target/directory"

If the file transfer fails and --partial is set, the target file will be named as the actual file name (i.e. FileYouAreSending.txt), even though the file isn't complete. You can later complete the transfer by running rsync again with either --append or --append-verify:$ rsync -av --progress --append /my/file.txt userid@discover.nccs.nasa.gov:"/target/directory" 152ee80cbc
