The group name: TOMORROW X TOGETHER, means five individuals who "come TOGETHER under one dream in hopes of building a better TOMORROW".
The full name is often shortened to "Tubatu" by Korean media and fans. International media and fans often shorten the group's name to TXT. In their first interview with MBC's Section TV, the band stated that they prefer to be called "TOMORROW X TOGETHER" over "TXT".
Pre-debut activities
Big Hit Entertainment's founder Bang Si-hyuk announced that the debut date for early 2019 was set in November 2018. TOMORROW X TOGETHER was officially revealed on January 10, 2019.
Over the next ten days, videos depicting each member, dubbed "introduction films," were released on YouTube.
2019
Debut and The Dream Chapter: Magic
In 2019, Big Hit Entertainment introduced their new boy group, TOMORROW X TOGETHER. Their debut was announced through a YouTube broadcast, alongside their first EP, The Dream Chapter: Star, released on March 4. TXT made their first music show appearance on "M Countdown" on March 7 and won their first music show award on "The Show" with Crown just a week after debut.
On April 9, TXT announced their first overseas tour— a six-show debut showcase across six U.S. cities: New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Dallas, Orlando, and Atlanta, from May 9 to 24.
October 21, 2019, TXT released their first studio album, The Dream Chapter: Magic, with 9 and Three Quarters (Run Away) as the lead single.
2020
January 15, 2020, TXT debuted in Japan with the single Magic Hour, featuring Japanese versions songs.
April 28, Big Hit Entertainment announced TXT’s second EP, The Dream Chapter: Eternity, set for release on May 18 with Can't You See Me? as the lead single.
July 20, 2020, it was announced that Soobin would be the new MC of KBS2's "Music Bank" for one year, along with Oh My Girl's Arin. His first broadcast as MC was on July 24, 2020, and his final on October 1, 2021.
August 19, TXT released their second Japanese single, Drama, featuring Japanese versions songs, along with their first original Japanese song, Everlasting Shine.
On October 26, TXT released their third EP, Minisode 1: Blue Hour, led by Blue Hour.
On November 24, TXT released Your Light, an original soundtrack for the JTBC teen drama "Live On", where Yeonjun also made a cameo in the final episode.
2021
April 22, Big Hit Music announced TXT’s comeback for late May. Their second studio album, The Chaos Chapter: Freeze, was released on May 31, led by 0X1=Lovesong (I Know I Love You) featuring Seori.
On May 24, TXT released Love Sight, the OST for the tvN drama "Doom at Your Service". On June 25, they released a remix of 0X1=Lovesong featuring pH-1, Woodie Gochild, and Seori.
On August 17, 2021, TXT released The Chaos Chapter: Fight or Escape, a repackaged version of The Chaos Chapter: Freeze, with Loser=Lover as the lead single.
On October 3, they held their first full-length concert, Act: Boy, which lasted 150 minutes, featured 25 songs, and was streamed via VenewLive to fans in 126 countries. On October 5, it was announced that each member would be guest DJs on "Kiss the Radio" from October 25 to 31, hosting "TOMORROW X TOGETHER Week" following Young K’s military enlistment.
TXT released their first Japanese EP, Chaotic Wonderland, on November 10, 2021. It featured Japanese versions songs, along with the original Japanese song Ito and their first English song, Magic.
2022
February 23, 2022, PS5 by Salem Ilese was released, featuring Yeonjun and Taehyun. March 14, Yeonjun was announced as the new MC of "Inkigayo" alongside Roh Jeong-eui and Seo Bum-june.
TXT released their fourth EP, Minisode 2: Thursday's Child, with the lead single Good Boy Gone Bad on May 9. To support the album, TXT launched their first world tour, Act: Lovesick, starting on July 2.
July 22, they released the English single "Valley of Lies" featuring Puerto Rican rapper Iann Dior. July 30, TXT became the first K-pop act to perform at Lollapalooza.
August 31, they released their third Japanese single, Good Boy Gone Bad, which included a Japanese version of the title track and two original songs, Hitori no Yoru and Kimi Janai Dareka no (Ring). Ring was used as the theme song for Heart Signal Japan, a remake of the Korean reality show Heart Signal.
2023
TXT released their fifth EP, The Name Chapter: Temptation, on January 27, 2023. February 22, they released Goodbye Now as the OST for the webtoon "Love Revolution".
March 22, TXT became the first K-pop group to headline "Lollapalooza", after performing the previous year. That same month, they began their second world tour, Act: Sweet Mirage.
July 5, they released their second Japanese album, Sweet, featuring the original song Ajisai no Yōna Koi (Hydrangea Love), which served as the opening theme for the drama "Saiko No Seito: Yomei Ichinen No Last Dance".
July 7, TXT collaborated with the Jonas Brothers on the single Do It Like That. September 15, they released Back For More with Anitta and performed it at the MTV Video Music Awards. October 13, TXT released their third Korean studio album, The Name Chapter: Freefall.
2024—NOW
TXT collaborated with Japanese composer Hiroyuki Sawano on LeveL, the opening theme for the 2024 anime "Solo Leveling". In March, they announced their third world tour, Act: Promise, with initial stops in South Korea and the US, where tickets quickly sold out.
April 1, they released their sixth EP, Minisode 3: Tomorrow. In July, the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles announced a special K-pop exhibit featuring accessories and performance gear from Hybe artists, including TXT. November 4, they released their seventh EP, The Star Chapter: Sanctuary.
December 10, the group announced a long-term break following the 39th Golden Disc Awards(GDA) on January 5, 2025, to rest and spend time with family, with plans to return later in the year. This followed leader Soobin's temporary hiatus due to health issues in November.😭
December 20, they announced the second leg of the Act: Promise tour, expanding to Europe and additional stops in Asia. The new tour dates were revealed in January 2025, set to begin in March after their hiatus.
