Updated 2023 Baseball Schedule

After a lot of rumors, head scratching, waiting, pestering, theories, and guesses, the District FINALLY released our updated schedule for the 2023 Season. After hearing a lot of whispering about a shortened season or a single elimination tournament, I am proud to announce that we will be playing a FULL SEASON of eight games. We could not be more happy with this outcome, and it is due in large part to the efforts of our coaching staff, our athletic director, and our administration continuing to persuade the District to give our boys a chance to play a full baseball season.
In order to avoid conflicts with the high school baseball season, games will be moved from Tuesday and Thursdays to Mondays and Wednesdays. The Championship game will be moved back two weeks to Wednesday, May 17th, with the playoffs taking place on Monday, May 15th.
We are grateful to all those that made this possible, but we want to give a huge shout out to Matt Williams at the School District for recognizing the value that Junior High Athletics provide to these young men and for fighting to get us a full season.

Blue & Red Game

We were supposed to play a game today, but our opponent's field was too muddy. We offered to play them on the Battlefield, but the said that due to "logistical issues," they would not be able (or willing, perhaps) to play us on our home field. That's fine, our boys still want to play, so we are going to improvise.
On Thursday, April 13th at 3:00pm on the Battlefield, we will be having our annual intersquad scrimmage--The Blue & Red Game. This is a great opportunity to watch your favorite Minuteman play, so come and support our MNTMN as they prepare for next week's games. Go MNTMN!
Preseason Game #1: MNTMN vs. Snowcrest

After a big win yesterday, we are ready to take on the Skyhawks of Snowcrest in the second preseason game.
The Skyhawks are returning a handful of talented players this year, and under the direction of their new head coach--Angie Boswell--they should provide a good challenge for our MNTMN. This game will be played on Friday, March 17th at 3:30 PM on The Battlefield.
Come out and support our boys as they continue to get ready for the regular season. Go MNTMN!
Preseason Game #1: MNTMN vs. South

After a Herculean effort by our players and coaches the last few days, The Battlefield is ready for war!
The T.H. Bell MNTMN kick off their 2023 season with a preseason game against our cross town friends, the Spartans of South Ogden Junior High School. This game will be played on Thursday, March 16th at 3:00 PM on The Battlefield.
Come out and support our boys as they kick off yet another great season. Go MNTMN!

Congratulations to the players who made it into the Top 24 roster spots. We had more players attend tryouts than we have had in over two decades.
For all players--including red shirts--we will have a team meeting in Womack's room today (March 8th) after school at 2:45. We will also have a parent meeting tonight (March 8th) at 5:30 pm in the choir room. This is also for all players and parents (including red shirts).
I am proud of the effort that all the boys put in to open gyms, clinics, and tryouts, but now the real work begins.

After 19 years of losing seasons, T.H. Bell has made it to the playoffs the last two seasons. Now there is a big target on our back. We need dedicated players ready to commit to help us continue this tradition of winning. Do you have what it takes?
Tryouts will begin promptly at 6:15 AM in the gym on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, and will last approximately an hour and a half. We will begin with a roll call and then we will go through our warm up routine. Players will be evaluated on multiple categories, including throwing/catching, fielding, hitting, pitching/catching, foot speed, attitude, and effort. The roster will be posted to the website and at the front office by 10:00 AM on the morning of tryouts. Number of players to be kept will be determined by the coaches.
To be eligible to tryout for the team, you must meet the following eligibility requirements for SECOND TERM: 2.0 minimum GPA, no more than one "F" letter grade, no more than one "U" citizenship grade, OR one "U" and one "N" citizenship grades, OR two "N" citizenship grades.

Okay, players. It's time to brush the dust off those gloves and get to work.
We will have five days of baseball clinics starting Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at 2:45 PM in Mr. Womack's Room. These clinics are open to anyone currently attending T.H. Bell Junior High School, regardless of skill level. We will have five different coaches at the clinics, and players will be broken into separate groups, based on their skill level, so that we can maximize repetitions and help players get the most out of this time. Dates of clinics are March 1, 2, 3, 6 & 7. Due to inclement weather, clinics on March 2, 3, and 7 will be held in the gym from 6:15-7:45am. The March 6 clinic will be held in the gym from 5:00-7:00pm.
This is also a great opportunity to get in some practice before tryouts, which will take place on Wednesday, March 8, 2023. Even if you do not plan on trying out for the team, these clinics are still a great way to learn the game and improve your skills.
Cost is $25, and you can pay online on the Weber School District portal or at the front office.

BHS Jr. High Weight Training

Do you want to get stronger for the spring season? The Bonneville High School Athletic Director and Head Football Coach are putting on a free "Junior High Weight Training" camp every Tuesday and Thursday from 4:00-5:00pm starting January 10th, and ending on March 6th. This is a great opportunity to get in shape and build strength for the upcoming baseball season. If you are not playing basketball for T.H. Bell, you should definitely take advantage of this free opportunity.
BHS Speed & Agility Training

Do you want to get faster for the spring season? The Bonneville High School Athletic Director and Head Football Coach are putting on a free "Speed and Agility Training" camp every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 2:45-4:00pm starting January 10th, and ending on February 16th. This is a great opportunity to get in shape for the upcoming baseball season. If you are not playing basketball for T.H. Bell, you should definitely take advantage of this free opportunity.
