MN MaxNotes is developed by MN Slow Technologies. This policy explains how the app handles your data.
The App requests the following Android permissions, used only as described:
Internet — used only to download a language model if you choose to run AI on your device, and to reach the server address you configure. It is not used for anything else, and the app is fully functional offline once set up.
File access — only when you explicitly pick files to import or choose a folder to export to, through the Android system file picker. The app does not browse your storage on its own.
None of these permissions are used to access, collect, or share personal data.
MaxNotes does not collect personal data, usage data, device identifiers, crash reports, or analytics of any kind. There is no sign-up, no login, and no MaxNotes account. We operate no server that the app talks to.
Where your notes are stored Your notes, folders, summaries, flashcards, and settings are stored locally on your device, in the app's private storage. They are removed when you uninstall the app. You can export your notes as plain files at any time from within the app, and import them again elsewhere.
MaxNotes can summarize notes, answer questions about them, and generate study flashcards. You choose in Settings where that processing happens. There are two options, and neither involves us.
**On your device.** You download a language model, and all processing happens on your phone. Nothing leaves the device. This works with no network connection at all.
**On a server you configure.** You may instead point MaxNotes at an OpenAI-compatible language-model server that you run and control — for example Ollama or LM Studio on your own computer. If you do:
MaxNotes sends your question, and the excerpts of your notes relevant to it, to the address **you** entered.
It sends this to no other destination. There is no fallback service, and no request is ever made to us.
What that server does with the request is governed by that server's own configuration and policies, which are under your control.
If you point MaxNotes at a third-party or hosted endpoint rather than your own machine, that provider's privacy policy applies to what you send.
Search indexing (which lets the app find notes by meaning rather than exact words) is always performed on your device, regardless of this setting.
The app stores the following data locally on your device only, using Android's DataStore:
Your selected Settings Ex: Color theme, GPU acceleration option, Note Fonts, Thinking Mode, Server Address
Inference and Indexing Model files which you downloaded
Saved Notes and Folders
This data never leaves your device and is never shared with anyone.
MN MaxNotes does not collect, store, or share:
Your name, email, or any personal identifiers
Your location
Device identifiers
Usage analytics or crash reports
No data is sent to any external server.
MN MaxNotes contains no advertising SDKs, no analytics SDKs, and no social logins.
If you choose to download an on-device model, it is fetched from the model host named in the app at that moment (for example, Hugging Face). That download is a direct request from your device to that host, subject to their policy. Some models carry their own licence terms, shown before download.
MN MaxNotes does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under 13.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised date.
