Welcome to the literacy and reading support classes webpage! Here you will find resources to help you or your child on classroom assignments and links to Read 180 / System 44 websites.
Here we teach reading and writing skills through Read 180 and System 44. They are intensive reading intervention programs designed to meet the needs of students reading below grade level. These programs directly address individual needs through differentiated instruction, adaptive instructional software, high-interest literature, and direct instruction in reading, writing, and vocabulary skills.
Student skills will be continuously monitored using the Reading Inventory and Phonics Inventory throughout the course of the program. These tools are used to determine student progress towards learning goals and objectives.

Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) is a prevention-based, three tiered framework that is team-driven and focuses on data-based problem solving to support and improve the needs of all students through family, school, and community partnering, comprehensive screening and assessment, and a layered continuum of evidence-based practices applied in the classroom.
Literacy ELO Interventions and ELD are considered to be blended Tier 2/Tier 3 classes in the MTSS model because both Read 180 and System 44 are taught within each class. This means students still attend their English class and receive Tier 1 lessons with the rest of the student body, but they get more targeted reading support through small group lessons in Literacy ELO and ELD.
Literacy ELO is a general education class intended to meet the needs of students on READ plans, MTSS Plans, or Individual Education Plans that are reading below grade level through reading and writing interventions.
ELD is a general education class designed to develop English language skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Students in this class may have an English Language Development Plan, a READ Plan, or an MTSS Plan. ELD is designed to meet the needs of your student and their plan.
ELA Strategic is a self-contained special education class designed to provide explicit, systematic instruction in research-based foundational skills, and higher-order comprehension skills and strategies, necessary for understanding text to students on Individual Education Plans that are reading below grade level. The class focuses on reading skills and strategies, vocabulary, writing, and grammar. Students work independently on an online adaptive computer program that is individualized to follow a personalized path that enhances their learning. Books are leveled by Lexile and reading ability, and students have the choice of reading paperbacks, digital books, or listening to audiobooks to support reading fluency and comprehension.
The Colorado Reading to Ensure Academic Development Act (READ Act), passed by the Colorado legislature in 2012, focuses on early literacy development for all students and especially for students at risk to not read at grade level by the end of the third grade. The READ Act focuses on literacy development for kindergarteners through third-graders. Students are tested for reading skills, and those who are not reading at grade level are given individual READ plans. Although READ plans are established in grades K-3, a READ plan remains in place until he or she achieves grade level competency
