This custom epoxy river table has a hand-cut image of Lake George, NY through the middle of it per request of our client. The wood used was a black walnut slab that we purchased locally. This table took roughly 14 gallons/55 liters of Ecopoxy (which we use for all of our river tables). In regards to the color, this is Black Diamond Pigments "Deep Blue Sea" metallic pigment. We then finished this table off with a clear coat of Stonecoat Countertop Epoxy. The base of this table is a custom made "X frame" style base.
This table went from garbage on the side of the road in California to a one of a kind epoxy coffee table in New York....literally. A good friend of mine and fellow woodworker reached out to me regarding this slab. He's originally from California and his parents found it on the side of the road. He reached out to me and of course I had to jump on it. When I initially received the slab, it was in very rough shape as you can see from the pictures below. It looks like someone attempted to finish it at one point, gave up and chucked it instead. The work I did on this slab was the definition of a complete transformation.
This counter came from the recently closed Mr. Rick's Bakery here in Watertown. We were tasked with cutting it and turning it to a 90 degree angle, rebuilding the top and doing a Bianco Carrara marble top out of epoxy with the new market logo embedded into it. Below are the results and our clients couldn't be happier. This counter was originally 14' long. We cut it down and turned it to a 90 degree angle and rebuilt these counters using 1 1/2" MDF. We did our color layer first using a white pearl pigment in our epoxy followed by two different shades of gray (light and dark) to create a Bianco Carrara marble look. After this layer was dry, we applied the 3' vinyl logo and finished the entire counter with a clear flood coat of epoxy.
