Peng's poster was entitled "Apertureless Scanning Near-field Infrared Microscopy with Broadband Light Sources". Tyler's poster was entitled "Infrared Microscopy of Vanadium Dioxide Microcrystals".

Mumtaz Qazilbash gave a talk at the APS March Meeting in Boston entitled "Infrared micro-spectroscopy of vanadium dioxide micro-crystals" in the session on vanadium oxides: metal-insulator transitions. In the same session, our collaborator Eric Walter presented theoretical work on phonons in vanadium dioxide.

Celebrated PhysicsFest in new Small Hall. Several exciting events were planned for the day. To name a few: public lectures from physics professors and our undergraduate students on a wide spectrum of topics (including overview of Small Hall history, discussion of faster-than-light neutrino experiments, and science of chocolate), opportunity to visit new research laboratories in Small Hall, hands-on "physics playroom" and eveyone's favorite liquid nitrogen ice cream.
Many visitors, including W&M alumni and their families as well as local middle/high school students and their families came by our photon spectroscopy lab. See below for pictures of visitors to our lab.
