ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY

Thiruvalluvar University was established at Vellore by Government of Tamilnadu in October 2002 under the Thiruvalluvar University Act, 2002 (Government of Tamilnadu Act 32 / 2002). The University was inaugurated on 16.10.2002 as a State University. The University is located in a Sprawling Campus of about 112.68 acres at Serkkadu near Vallimalai , about sixteen kms from Vellore City on the Chennai – Chittoor Highway. The University named after the great Tamil Saint, a Divine poet "Thiruvalluvar" is enshrined with the motto "கண்ணுடைய ரென்பவர் கற்றோர்".

All efforts are taken to make this prestigious institution a temple of learning. The aim of this University is to provide facilities for advancement in Teaching, Research and dissemination of Knowledge with special focus on the economic and social upliftment of the society.

The University also strives to provide quality higher education on par with international standards. It persistently seeks and adopts innovative methods to improve the quality of higher education. Highly experienced learned and committed teachers nurture the talents of students, through multifarious activities.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS

The Department of Mathematics was established in the year 2003-2004, and offers M.Sc., M.Phil. and Ph.D, in Mathematics. The students are admitted by selection through an entrance test. The Faculty of Department comprises qualified and goal-oriented members. The Department has made good strides and established a multi-dimensional growth in the fields of Topology, Fuzzy Topology, Fluid Dynamics, Differential Equations, Algebra and Graph Theory. The Faculty members of the Department have been receiving research grants from various Funding agencies.

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

Applied mathematics is a branch of mathematics that deals with mathematical methods that find use in science, engineering, business, computer science, and industry. Thus, "applied mathematics" is a mathematical science with specialized knowledge. The term "applied mathematics" also describes the professional specialty in which mathematicians work on practical problems by formulating and studying mathematical models. In the past, practical applications have motivated the development of mathematical theories, which then became the subject of study in pure mathematics where abstract concepts are studied for their own sake. The activity of applied mathematics is thus intimately connected with research in pure mathematics.

Computational science (also scientific computing or scientific computation) is concerned with constructing mathematical models and quantitative analysis techniques and using computers to analyze and solve scientific problems. In practical use, it is typically the application of computer simulation and other forms of computation from numerical analysis and theoretical computer science to problems in various scientific disciplines.

Mathematical Modelling, Analysis and Computing conference will address research works at the interface between applied mathematics, numerical computation, and applications of systems – oriented ideas to the physical, biological, social, and behavioral sciences, and emphasizes research works of a computational nature focusing on new algorithms, their analysis and numerical results.
