2022 Literature Review

Literature Review

The importance of such projects are explained in my literature review, where I connect impacts of climate change, such as land degradation and biodiversity loss, to projects such as mine.

To help North Branch assess land quality the following methods were used:

Soil was analyzed using the Luster Leaf 1602 Soil Test Kit which tests soil pH, Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potash. Water was analyzed using 2 methods, the TDS Meter Digital Water Tester and the Simplex Health Home Water Test Kit 5-in-One water test strips. The water meter measured TDS, Total Dissolved Solids, this includes salt, metals or minerals in the water and the water test strips were used to compare the water samples from each property to acceptable drinking standards. Each strip tests pH, total alkalinity, total hardness, nitrate, and nitrite. Species were identified using the Seek, Picture Bird and INaturalist app and categorized if invasive by using the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s list of Invasive Species of Concern for Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania Game Commission’s list of endangered and threatened species was used to identify endangered species. Pollution was observed visually and noted.
