For nine years, from 2007 to 2016, Bola, the founder of this event, co-led the planning of the annual MLK Day of Service at Washington State University Vancouver with staff, faculty, and student leaders. It was a successful event that brought out members of the community on the federal holiday that many people have as a day off. Her nieces loved it and looked forward to collecting MLK Day t-shirts each year.
Now, with kids of her own, Bola is back in Clark County and, with the help of friends, family, and community members, launched a new MLK Day event centered on kids and youth. She hopes to share the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with a new generation of youth and their family members.
