MLK Day 4 Kids is designed for kids and their family members to meet friends, learn about social justice themes, and build community.
Outcomes for youth include:
Educational Engagement: Through an interactive music presentation, craft activities, storytelling, and workshops, young people will gain knowledge about the legacy of Dr. King.
Youth Empowerment: Young people will recognize their potential as advocates for positive change. Activities will emphasize kindness, empathy, and the dream of a "beloved community."
Community Building: Youth will feel a sense of community and caring through the bringing together of other youth, parents, volunteers, and educators at this community event.
Additional Details:
Our very short program will start at 10:15/10:20. This will give kids/youth time to grab a t-shirt and get settled.
An adult must accompany all children in 8th grade and below.
You don't need to register! Just show up.
Light, nut-free refreshments will be provided
This is a kid and youth-centered event. If you are looking for MLK Day events for adults, please consider attending one of the many events in Clark and Multnomah counties.
All families with kids are welcome. We strive to make this an inclusive event that values our community's diversity and lived experiences.
This is a non-religious event that happens to take place in an awesome and welcoming church. People of all faiths and beliefs should feel welcome to come.
