The MLK Assasination Files: AI Restored
Welcome to the first fully searchable version of the July 2025 release of the Martin Luther King Jr. assassination records. Using modern AI-based tools, we aggregated over 6,200 PDFs released by the National Archives, corrected millions of errors in the low-quality scanned text and analyzed them with AI. To see why this is a game-changer for researchers, consider this example. The original FBI memo on the original of James Earl Ray's weapon is over-exposed causing the the National Archives digitally extracted text to contain numerous typos including the word "Alabama". Our AI pipeline corrected all the typos ensuring the document shows up in a search for "Alabama"
