Overview

For nearly 35 years the Mt. Lebanon School District teachers have provided, through personal contributions, study grants for returning students (current K through 11th graders) who plan to participate in summer enrichment programs.

Academic programs that offer opportunities not found in our regular curriculum are given preference; however, a wide variety of programs are considered and often funded, excluding athletic camps, religious camps and travel-abroad programs.

Below is a sampling of activities the MLEA Scholarship Fund supported in previous years:

ATTENDING LEADERSHIP CONFERENCES

ATTENDING ART AND MUSIC CAMPS

PARTICIPATING IN BALLET STUDIES

ATTENDING FORENSIC/DEBATE/DRAMA PROGRAMS

ATTENDING MATH, SCIENCE AND COMPUTER SCIENCE CAMPS

ATTENDING CULTURE AND LANGUAGE CAMPS

Grant awards have ranged from $50.00 to $300.00. For those applications that the MLEA did not completely fund, we offered partial payments if the students (or their parents) were willing to invest the remaining amount required for program tuition.

In addition to the type of program toward which the grant is to be applied, the quality and completeness of the application are also considered. Information from the two required references, including comments on school attendance and other factors, are taken into account.

Please note that the MLEA summer grant scholarships are not related to the Mt. Lebanon School District’s ‘Summer Enrichment’ program but can be used to fund one of these classes.

Please contact Ms. Cassie Mader with questions (cmader@gmail.com) about the Summer Enrichment program.

NOTE: Applying does not insure an award.
