9th Italian Workshop on

Machine Learning and Data Mining

November 2020, Anywhere

Workshop of the 19th International Conference of the Italian Association for Artificial Intelligence

(AIxIA 2020)

https://aixia2020.di.unito.it

Following the success of the past eight editions of the Italian Workshop on Machine Learning and Data Mining (MLDM.it) at the AIxIA Symposiums and AIxIA Conferences on Artificial Intelligence, this workshop aims at bringing together researchers actively involved in the fields of machine learning, data mining, deep learning, pattern recognition, and knowledge discovery.

During the workshop, researchers will have the opportunity to present their recent results and discuss problems and challenges relevant to the community.

Besides traditional novel ML&DM technique presentations, as for the last edition, also the edition of this year will particularly focus on the presentation and discussion of new open problems that relate the ML&DM with the more general AI area and its applications. With the intention to share the new upcoming challenges involving a large AI audience, a particular emphasis is given to contributions addressing the following topics:

  • real-world open problems from a wide range of disciplines

  • application open datasets, resources and benchmarks

  • unresolved issues and interdisciplinary challenges requiring contributions from different AI fields

  • discussion of open opportunities to connect the ML experts with the national/European industry development

  • discussion of issues related to the position of the Italian research within the European scenario and networks

Following the tradition of MLDM.it, presentations are upon invitation. Attendance to MLDM.it is open and welcome to all the AIxIA Conference participants.

The meeting is organized by the AIxIA Working Group on Machine Learning and Data Mining whose general goal is to promote Italian scientific activities in the field of machine learning and data mining, and foster collaborations between research groups.

  • Presentations: The presentations will be based on videos and on a discussion forum (by a communication platform) allowing all the participants to interact (with questions and answers) for a vibrant virtual event. See details in

  • Intructions for videos preparation (for authors of accepted contributions): sent by email to the correspondig authors, see also https://aixia2020.di.unito.it/venue/instructions-for-videos

  • Intructions for registration: please, see at https://aixia2020.di.unito.it/venue/registration

  • Proceedings:

    1. Following the tradition of MLDM.it, presentations are upon invitation, and it is not needed to propose a paper for the workshop proceedings through the site. Only the abstracts of the invited and accepted proposals will be published on the workshop web site. Details on the deadlines and submission will be provided with the invitation.

    2. This year, after the workshop, authors of selected contributions presented at the workshop will have the opportunity to submit a manuscript to be included in the AIxIA 2020 conference post-proceedings edited by Springer as an LNAI volume with post-proceedings of selected and revised papers (see https://aixia2020.di.unito.it/publications).

    3. Moreover, a selection of the best contributions, accepted for the presentation at the workshops, can be invited for a submission to “Intelligenza Artificiale”, the International Journal of the Italian Association for Artificial Intelligence, edited by IOS Press and indexed by Thomson Reuters' "Emerging Sources Citation Index" and Scopus by Elsevier.
