Michael A. Spragley, First Sergeant (Ret.) United States Army, is a native of Whitakers, North Carolina, and currently resides in Chester, VA.
He entered the United States Army in March of 1981 and attended Basic and Advanced Individual training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He is a graduate of the Primary, Basic and Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Courses (Honor) and the United States Army First Sergeants Course. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Individualized Studies from Virginia State University (Magna Cum Laude), a Master’s Degree in Management with a Concentration in Organizational Leadership (With Distinction) from American Military University, and a Graduate of Penn State Executive Programs, Smeal College of Business and the University of North Carolina, at Chapel Hill, Industry for Defense and Business Programs.
He has had a number of assignments throughout his career which include: B Co, 44th Engineer Battalion, Camp Nimble Korea, the 57th Transportation Co, 240th Quartermaster Battalion, HHC, Quartermaster Center and School, Fort Lee, Virginia; Bravo Co, 122 MSB and HHC DISCOM, Frankfurt, Germany; 126th Trans Co and HHC 7th Transportation, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; United States Armed Forces Support Center, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.; Support Platoon Sergeant / First Sergeant HHC 2nd Battalion 6th Infantry Regiment, 1st Armored Division, Baumholder, Germany; Detachment First Sergeant, Guard Force, Camp Monteith, Kosovo; Noncommissioned Officer in Charge / Chief Training Developer / Writer CASCOM, and 1SG of HHC USAG Company. Supervisor / Team Chief Logistics Exercise and Simulation Directorate, currently serving as the Combined Arms Support Command (CASCOM) Sustainment Center of Excellence (SCoE) Deputy G1/4 for Logistics.
He is the recipient of many awards and honors, including: the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal, GWOT Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, German Schutzenschnur Bronze Award, the Expert Drivers Badge, the Order of Saint Christopher Award, Transportation Association, the Order of Saint Maurice Legionnaire, National Infantry Association and numerous Civilian Achievement and Accommodation Awards.
He is a previous member of First Baptist Church, West Petersburg, which began on March 21, 2003, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Peter R. Jeffrey, and served as a Deacon (Vice Chair / Chair), Associate Minister, and Administrative Assistant to the Pastor. A Preacher of the Gospel and Loves the Lord! He now currently serves as the pastor of Mount Level Baptist Church in Dinwiddie, Virginia (since December 2022).
He is married to the former Darcel Bonner. They have two children: daughter, Danielle, and son, Michael Anthony, II, and a beautiful granddaughter (Audrey).
