Highlights
Easy-Plane Spin Hall Oscillator
In this paper, we demonstrate the experimental realization of an easy-plane spin Hall oscillator (EP-SHO). By tuning magnetic anisotropy in nano-devices we create an energy landscape that can host large angle spin dynamics driven by spin-orbit torque. Our results provide an approach to design of high-power SHOs for wireless communications, neuromorphic computing, and microwave assisted magnetic recording.

Robust Spin Injection via Thermal Magnon Pumping in Antiferromagnet/Ferromagnet Hybrid Systems
In this paper, we demonstrate efficient spin transport in an antiferromagnet/ferromagnet hybrid structures that remains robust up to room temperature. We observed coupling of magnonic subsystems in the antiferromagnet and ferromagnet and reveal its importance in spin transport, a key process in the operation of spin-based devices.

Observation of Pure-Spin-Current Diodelike Effect at the Au/Pt Interface
Spin-pumping from a ferromagnet into an adjacent non-magnetic material is a powerful technique to generate pure-spin-currents, wherein spin transport is unaccompanied by net charge transport. Using spin-pumping experiments, we show the Au/Pt interface displays a diode-like effect with respect to pure-spin-current, i.e. the spin transport is asymmetric at the Au/Pt interface. The experimental results demonstrate that the transmission of pure-spin-current from Au into Pt is more than twice as efficient as transmission from Pt into Au.

Spin–orbit torque driven by a planar Hall current
This paper reports the discovery of a new type of spin-orbit torque. The planar Hall torque has a surprising connection to the 1856 work of Lord Kelvin (William Thomson), who found that a change in the direction of the magnetic force in nickel influences the flow of electric current in this ferromagnetic metal. Here we show that the inverse is also true: Electric current can apply torque and redirect the metal's magnetism. The planar Hall torque is rooted in both relativity and quantum mechanics, as it arises from the rapid motion of electrons in metals traveling at a fraction of the speed of light.

Magnetization reversal driven by low dimensional chaos in a nanoscale ferromagnet
This work reveals that ac spin transfer torque at sub-FMR frequencies can lead to chaotic magnetization dynamics that reduces the effective energy barrier for reversal in nanomagnets and provides a new means of energy assisted switching, which may exceed energy efficiency of microwave-assisted magnetic recording (MAMR) and is compatible with STT-MRAM and SOT-MRAM. This work unveils an important interplay between chaos and stochasticity in the energy assisted switching of magnetic nanodevices and paves the way towards improved energy efficiency of spin torque memory and logic.

Quantum Well State Induced Oscillation of Pure Spin Currents in Fe/Au/Pd (001)
This paper reportd the discovery of the formation of quantum well states that influence the spin pumping mechanism. Quantum well states have been known to play a role in the oscillatory RKKY-like interlayer exchange coupling, but their impact on magnetic damping was previously unexplored. Here, we demonstrate that the spin pumping induced damping oscillates with a period corresponding to the critical spanning vectors in a spacer layer between a ferromagnet and a large spin-orbit material. This is the first demonstration of quantum well states impacting a time-irreversible process.
