Prof. Andrea Kő is a Professor and Director of the Institute of Data Analytics and Information Systems of the Corvinus University of Budapest. She is a Program Director of the Business Informatics Doctoral Program of the Doctoral School of Economics, Business, and Informatics. She has been involved in several international and national research projects in various areas of digitalisation, business analytics, and machine learning in finance and industry. She has published more than 140 scientific papers in journals, books, and international and national conferences. Her main research interests include business analytics, digitalization and machine learning applications in finance, semantic technologies and solutions.
Prof. Richard McCreadie is a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor equivalent) in the areas of real-time Information Retrieval, machine learning, big data stream processing and evaluation methodologies over streaming data, currently based within the IR Group/Terrier Team of the School of Computing Science at the University of Glasgow. He specialises in real-time IR technologies that enable users to efficiently and effectively find information in big data streams; the research and development of automatic (assistive) agents to detect events, extract knowledge and summarize information within big data streams; as well as methodologies to evaluate systems that process such streams. He is the head of the Financial Informatics Research Theme at Glasgow, and is a steering committee member for the Text Retrieval Conference (TREC).
Mr. Thomas J. De Luca is a Senior Researcher, investor behavior, in Vanguard’s Investment Strategy Group, responsible for conducting research on investor preferences and decision-making and applying behavioral insights to real-world settings. His expertise includes financial modeling, data analysis, and investor behavior. Tom’s research examines the behavior of self-directed individual investors, including tendencies and biases, portfolio construction and product usage, and reactions to market events. Prior to joining Vanguard in 2014, Tom served as a captain and meteorologist in the U.S. Air Force. Tom holds a B.A. in mathematics from Cornell University, M.S. degrees in applied mathematics and meteorology from the Naval Postgraduate School, an M.B.A. with distinction from the Kellogg School of Management, and an M.P.S. in data analytics from Pennsylvania State University.
Mr. Chuck Grace is the co-founder and advisory chair for Canada’s Financial Wellness Lab at Western University. His particular interest lies in financial advice and the impact of emerging AI technologies on advisory firms. Previously, Chuck has served as HBA faculty director for the Ivey Field Project (IFP), Associate Director for The Scotiabank Digital Banking Lab and chaired Ivey's advisory council for Household Finance research. In 2021, he was awarded the Patrick Culhane Special Contributor Award in recognition of an individual who has made a significant contribution to the payroll profession. Prior to joining Ivey, Chuck held a progression of senior management positions with one of Canada’s largest insurance and wealth management companies. As the COO of Quadrus Investment Services, Chuck and his team were responsible for growing the firm from its inception into one of the largest mutual fund dealers in Canada.
Prof. Yong Zheng (Lead Organizer) is an Associate Professor at the Department of Information Technology and Management, College of Computing, Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, USA. His research interests lie in decision-making and optimization, personalization and recommender systems, particularly in the area of FinTech and education. He is a long-term consultant for Morningstar, Inc. in USA, where he provides consulting services in AI for finance.
Prof. John R.J. Thompson (Lead Organizer) is an Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia whose areas of expertise are nonparametric and applied statistics and machine learning. John is a member of the Financial Wellness Lab at Western University, which aims to design data-driven tools that Canadians can use to improve their financial resilience, reduce financial stress, and support better financial decisions. John's current applied research includes modelling the behaviors of Canadian investors under the guidance of financial advisors, and designing effective financial measures and statistical tools that aid financial advisors in supporting their clients’ investment portfolios.
