We are committed to protecting your privacy. ReaderApp is designed as a privacy-first application. Most of your reading and learning data is stored securely on your device, and we only process data off-device for user authentication, subscription verification, and routing AI assistant features. ────── 1. Information Collection and Use
A. Data Processed and Stored on Your Device ReaderApp operates primarily by storing data directly on your mobile device to ensure local-first speed:
• Settings and Preferences: Target languages, reading appearance preferences, and layout themes are saved locally using AsyncStorage. • Personal Dictionary and History: Your lookup history, saved words, and custom translations are stored in a local device-side database. • API Keys (BYOK Tiers): If you choose to configure your own Google Gemini API key, it is stored encrypted on your device and used solely to send direct requests to Google's API endpoints.
B. Information We Collect and Transmit (Off-Device) To provide account synchronization, secure logins, and premium features, the following data is transmitted to our secure cloud services (Supabase and RevenueCat):
• Email Address: Collected during account registration and login to authenticate your profile. • Purchase History: Collected to verify and restore your active premium subscription tiers. • App Activity (App Interactions): Syncs reading logs, chatbot history, and practice statistics to your cloud account so you do not lose your learning progress when changing devices. • Device Identifiers: Sent securely during login checks to manage active sessions and prevent unauthorized simultaneous logins.
C. Device Permissions Requested The App requires certain device permissions to function. You can enable or disable these at any time via your system settings:
• Microphone (RECORD_AUDIO): Required to enable active speaking practices, pronunciation tests, and the voice-to-text live chatbot mode. • Internet Access (INTERNET): Required to retrieve translation data, sync backups to Supabase, check subscription statuses, and communicate with Google's Gemini API model. • Wake Lock (WAKE_LOCK): Keeps the screen active during audio listenings or microphone recordings. ────── 2. Third-Party Services and Data Transfer
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. To deliver specific app capabilities, your data is processed securely by the following third-party providers:
• Google Gemini API: AI chat, roleplay, and text parsing requests are processed securely by Google's API. • RevenueCat: Used to verify app store transactions and manage premium access entitlements. • Supabase: Serves as our secure backend to handle account authentication and sync databases. • Speech Services: Speech recognition and playback utilize your device's built-in text-to-speech (TTS) and speech-to-text (STT) system engines. ────── 3. Data Retention and Deletion
• Local Data: You can delete your search history, saved words, and customized settings directly within the app interface, or permanently delete them by uninstalling the application. • Account Deletion: You can request account and data deletion at any time via the Settings screen in the app or by emailing us.
