Welcome to my Academic Portfolio
Here you will find projects I have completed as part of my classes. Some are required components and some are additional unrequired work that is relevant. All writing, files, and CAD drawings, are created by me. Most files are available on request. All photos are created by me or are Creative Commons.
About me:
I took Math 980 online over the summer of 2020, it was the first class I’ve taken in 25 years. I’ve always wanted to come back to school to get a degree, but life happens. When Covid came along it was the final straw in making the decision to quit my job of 20 years as a federal park ranger.
Since returning to school I'm surprised to discover my success in Math and interest in Engineering. Originally I wanted to pursue creative writing, but forces unknown to me have pulled me in a different direction. I like to write about my experiences in the outdoors and, in the future, I hope to write a book about those years, but probably just as a hobby. I like to work on my old trucks including restoration and fabricating. I'm interested in producing new parts and exploring the possibility of developing a patent in the future.
I usually fix anything around the house and have done remodeling, plumbing, and wiring. I have rebuilt transmissions and differentials and especially like to play with my TIG welder. My wife Lisa, and I live near Liberty Park in SLC. We love the outdoor recreation available in Utah and like to spend as much time as possible backpacking in the mountains and rafting down the rivers. During winter we live in Mexico and travel whenever possible.
