Dear Third Grade Parents and Families: 

Welcome back to another school year at Kahala Elementary School. We have a very busy and exciting school year planned. Third grade will consist of a lot of new math, language arts, science, social studies, and health material. 

Students will be using a language arts program called Wonders. Also, we will continue using the math program Stepping Stones. Throughout the quarter students’ homework will consist of weekly spelling lessons, math assignments through the Stepping Stones Practice Book as well as the computerized IXL lessons. Language arts lessons will come from the Wonders program. Homework will mainly consist of 30 minutes of independent reading (Accelerated Reader Program) every night as well as two KidBiz articles (first try 75% or higher) that will be assigned weekly. Students will be allowed to choose any articles and questions that they are interested in reading about. 

We will be working on developing our emotional and social growth through different team building exercises.  We hope to finish the third grade with skills that will empower us academically as well as socially in order to best prepare ourselves for life outside of school.
