Many MK schools are in need of teachers who can serve in various ways. Even though you cannot do classroom teaching, you can still serve as an extra-curricular activities teacher, dorm resident assistant, educational support staff, etc.
MKs are all over the world including the countries that use Arabic, Chinese, Spanish, etc. As such, MK schools are also in countries that teach in languages other than English. Yet, many of them choose English as the educational language, and if you want to apply to one of them, you need to be fluent in English.
We give thanks to God who always provides for the missionaries in His ways. Yet, we believe that those provisions were made possible by the obedience of other people. So far, most of the MK ministry was established by the churches and leaders in America. However, the number of Korean adult MKs has become many, and now is the time for those who have already gone through and therefore understand the difficulties that Korean MKs experience to rise up and become a part of that ministry. The calling may not be to become a full-time minister. Nonetheless, we pray for the beginning of a movement where adult MKs dedicate a part of their lives to serve other MKs and for their obedience when God calls their names.
To everything, there is a season, and to everything, there is God’s time. We value your heart with the holy burden. What if now is God’s time for you to be fueled and healed from the hardships you have experienced as a missionary kid? If so, we encourage you to enjoy that time of stability and abundance. Perhaps, participating in the MK ministry by other means could be an option. For instance, you could help out the MK camps during breaks, treat MKs a meal, help out those in re-entry, become an online mentor to those who are in the mission fields, or support in prayer and finances.
Don’t rush. You do not have to be in a mission field in order to be a missionary. Wait for His time. We believe that the first thing that God calls you to do after marriage is to be united as one with the spouse. Prayerfully seek the new vision that God is giving to your family. With the hope that God will use you and your spouse in His time, and with the belief that where you are standing now is your mission field, dedicate yourself to MK ministry. There are still many ways to serve MKs.
The requirements depend on the schools. Some go for a 100% full support base, some give a small stipend, and some MK international schools give salaries and provide benefits. We will provide the necessary information and help you find the MK school you are looking for.
We are aware that many MKs do not have homes in Korea, and that it is not easy to raise support without the networks. For that reason, MK BEAM not only provides training for fundraising but also has a matching fund system. When the applicant is able to raise 500,000 KRW, we will also support the applicant with the same “matching” amount.
Different MK schools may have different demands. When necessary, we will connect you to a church or an organization that can serve the role. We encourage you to go to the mission field with a sending church or organization as it provides safety and member care for the missionaries.
After submitting the application, we have an interview and a few more procedures. We will guide you in each step with detailed information. Furthermore, once you become a BEAMer, you must complete 10 weeks of training, which takes place every Saturday either online or offline. This training will prepare you to become a healthy MK minister as an MK yourself. During the program, you will also be guided through the steps of school application and the departure.
MK BEAM will continuously provide member care and help your adjustment to the new environment by connecting you to another MK teacher with whom you will build a mentor-mentee relationship.
