Jean Nouvel est né le 12 août 1945 à Fumel, en France. Après avoir suivi des études d'architecture à l'Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Bordeaux il fut admit à l'Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris en 1966 et obtient son diplôme en 1971. Après 3 années passées au côté de Claude Parent, il ouvre en 1970 son agence avec François Seigneur. Il devient peu après cofondateur de "Mars 1976" qui a pour objet de lutter contre le corporatisme des architectes, puis du syndicat de l'architecture.
En 1987 il reçoit son premier prix, le Grand Prix National d'Architecture français, puis en 1989 le Prix d'Architecture Aga Khan, pour sa fabuleuse œuvre, l'Institut du Monde arabe, à Paris. Après de nombreuses collaborations, il ouvre son propre studio en 1994. 14 années plus tard, en 2008, il fut récompensé du célèbre Prix Pritzker, pour l'architecture The Hyatt Foundation, aux Etats-Unis. Durant sa carrière il réalisa de remarquables œuvres : Louvre Abou Dabi, Tour Agbar, le Musée National du Qatar, Tours Duo, City Hall of Montpellier,....
Jean Nouvel was born on the 12th of August 1945 in Fumel, France. After studying architecture at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Bordeaux, he is accepted to the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1966, and he graduates in 1971. After three years working alongside Claude Parent, he opens in 1970 his own firm with François Seigneur. Shortly after that, he co-founded Mars 1976, which aimed to fight against the corporatism of architects; he then founds the architecture union.
In 1987, Jean Nouvel receives his first prize: the French National Architecture Prize, followed by the Aga Khan Award for Architecture in 1989 for his Arab World Institute in Paris. After numerous collaborations, he opens his own studio in 1994. 14 years later, in 2008, he is awarded the famous
Pritzker Prize for his Hyatt Foundation in the USA. During his career, he will produce remarkable works such as Louvre Abu Dhabi, Agbar Tower, National Museum of Qatar, Tours Duo, City Hall of Montpellier,....
