Minji Kwak
I am a PhD candidate in the Department of Economics at University of Southern California (USC).
My research interest lies in Development Economics, particularly in the fields of Political Economy and Education Economics.
I focus on governance and education in the developing world with a behavioral and gender lens.
I focus on two key aspects of development economics: (1) exploring ways to improve social welfare at the village level through field and lab-in-the-field experiments as a part of previous and on-going research in Malawi, and (2) measuring and evaluating the effect of policies aimed at human capital accumulation.
My research projects address two aspects in developing countries: the local governance system where modern elected leadership does not exist (political economy); and the gender role in the development of human capital through increased access to education (education economics).
