[ Tailored suits, Loafers ] Suit scraps, Leather私は18歳までを故郷である岩手で過ごした。私の夢も身体も感性も性格も、至らぬ部分も含めて全てこの地が育んだ。上京し、岩手を外から見たからこそ、自分の故郷の魅力を再認識している。この土地の物や古くから伝わる技術でモノづくりをしたいと強く感じた。
I was born and raised till 18 years old in my hometown of Iwate. All my dreams, body, senses, personality, and flaws grew with me on this land. Because I came to Tokyo and saw Iwate from the outside, I re-recongnized the charm of my hometown. I strongly felt that I wanted to make things with local products from this land and the techniques that have been inherited for a long time.

父は岩手で工場長としてスーツの製造に携わっている。本来、廃棄されてしまう裁断後の生地の端材を使用し、ファッションアイテムにアップサイクルさせることを考えた。

「裂き織り」は岩手に伝わる伝統工芸の一つ。傷んだり不要となった布を細く裂いたものを緯糸として織り上げた織物や、それを用いて作った衣類のこと。今回はスーツの工場にちなんで織り直した生地をジャケット、パンツ、シューズ、それぞれのパーツに使用。
"Saki-ori" is one of the traditional crafts in Iwate. A woven fabric or clothing made using that fabric, made by weaving a string produced from damaged or wasted cloth. Because these scraps come from suit factory, I rewove the fabric and made it into jackets, pants, shoes, and other parts.

宮沢賢治は岩手を代表する詩人である。彼が残した「雨ニモマケズ」は岩手の人々の性格に大きく反映している気がした。私は彼が岩手の県民性を象徴する存在だと考えた。彼の理想郷、「イーハトーブ」の世界観をデザインにおとしこんだ。
Kenji Miyazawa is a famous poet from Iwate. The poem he wrote are memorized at least once by the people of Iwate. I thought he was a symbol of Iwate's prefectural character. I designed suits and shoes for him, imagining the world of the utopia "Ihatov" that he created.

今年の3月11日で東日本大震災から10年が経つ。私はいつか故郷に恩返しがしたい。
