Mizan Legal Initiative is a student-led organization committed to bridging the gap between displaced communities and accessible legal support. Founded by students, for students, Mizan began as a simple idea at UCLA: What if pre-law students could do more than study the system, what if they could change it?
At our core, we believe in altruism and unity, that meaningful change begins with selfless service and collective action. These values guide everything we do.
We believe in the power of young people to drive impact. Through our volunteer network, we strive to connect refugee and asylum-seeking communities with legal professionals offering their time and expertise. At the same time, we provide student volunteers with real-world experience, purpose-driven opportunities, and a chance to engage with the law as a tool for justice.
On college campuses, we are actively building a national network of pre-law students passionate about using their future careers to give back. Whether through starting a chapter, volunteering time, or leading advocacy efforts, Mizan empowers students to transform compassion into action, and to do it together.
This is more than a program. It’s a growing community of future legal professionals, united by a shared commitment to justice, care, altruism, and collective power.
