Miui 12 Launcher

Today I was trying to install a game but it turned out I didn't have enough storage space. It told me there was no more space so I uninstalled the game, but then one of my apps suddenly disappeared from the drawer and the home screen. It's still there. I can still use that specific application, but it simply won't show in the launcher.

While the activity is on, I go to the background and when I want to learn the classname from within a service, I see "com.miui.home.launcher.Launcher".I need the activity class. Where am I going wrong?

com.miumi.home.launcher.Launcher is Activity set as devices launcher - "desktop" app responsible for showing all your apps grid, widgets etc. when your app is in background (put there by e.g. Home button) and any of your Activites isn't present on the screen then your device is showing Launcher app and this is reporting your code

I am running a stock MIUI system launcher on my Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro. Today, I changed my launcher to Nova Launcher, and set it as default. And, I tried to force stop the MIUI System Launcher, but failed. It continues using about 150MB of RAM. How can I stop running this app and reduce RAM/battery usage?

Xiaomi's MIUI has been criticized for being an iOS-lookalike in the past, as this was one of the earliest Android UX skins around that had an app launcher without a dedicated app drawer. MIUI's default launcher had a home screen with a fixed dock on the bottom, and swiping right on the home screen revealed several pages of apps that were installed on your device. The lack of a dedicated app drawer forced many users to switch to third-party alternatives, and Xiaomi even released its own POCO Launcher with a dedicated app drawer to appease users who preferred it this way.

To try out the new launcher with the dedicated app drawer and swipe up gesture, simply sideload the APK on a Xiaomi device running MIUI. Once installed, long press on the homescreen and then choose the option that appears in Chinese (with no corresponding translated string yet), and select the second option.

This feature has been a long time coming for Xiaomi, and we're glad it is finally here. However, this does put into question the existence of the POCO Launcher and the purpose it serves in Xiaomi's ecosystem if the default launcher changes like this.

Android 10 introduced gesture navigation, which allows you to swipe through your apps instead of using three buttons at the bottom. Most phone manufacturers (Samsung, Google, OnePlus) added support for third-party launchers, but not all.

If you are testing Android 14 Beta 1, you might notice that the swipe-to-home gesture is broken and does not immediately show the homescreen. This is a system issue affecting all third-party launchers, and we hope Google addresses this with Android Beta 2, which will likely roll out next week. In the meantime, we recommend switching to 3-button navigation.

Xiaomi has fully integrated gesture navigation into their MIUI System Launcher with the MIUI 12/Android 11 update (source), and this prevents users of third-party launchers from enabling gesture navigation. If you want to use a third-party launcher with gesture navigation, you can contact Xiaomi and request that they bring it back. In the meantime, you can download these apps that provide a similar feel to gesture navigation on any Android version.

On older Android 10 versions, gesture navigation is generally disabled for third-party launchers (like Niagara Launcher). We can't change this, unfortunately. In this case, you have to wait until you get a software update. However, you can download these apps to get a similar feel as gesture navigation on any Android version. Moreover, you could try the following ADB command to force it on, but it doesn't survive a device reboot: adb shell cmd overlay enable com.android.internal.systemui.navbar.gestural. To revert it, use com.android.internal.systemui.navbar.threebutton. Use ADB commands at your own risk.

This is caused by the implementation of the system launcher. It also takes care of handling gesture navigation for third-party launchers. If the gestures are not working as expected, a device restart might already help. We have to wait for the Android team and OEMs to fix these gesture navigation issues, and we and other third-party launcher devs are trying as much as we can to support them by submitting bug reports to the official Android issue tracker. Gesture navigation and Android's recents screen (where you see all opened apps) are always controlled by a submodule of the pre-installed launcher, not by third-party launchers (like Niagara Launcher). As a result, gesture navigation may behave differently in combination with third-party launchers than with your preinstalled launcher because two apps are responsible for the home screen and navigation. Apart from changing the position of the search bar in Nova Launcher, you can also change its style. For instance, you can choose from the bar or logo style. None of the features is available in the MIUI launcher.

Another feature missing in Nova Launcher is the Smart Hub. When you swipe right on MIUI system launcher, a new panel screen known as Smart Hub opens up. This is a quick access panel that basically houses app shortcuts, calendar events, stocks, notes, and more. You can add or remove cards according to your preference from the available choices.

Be it icon size, grid size, icon shapes, folders, app drawers, transition effects, etc., you can keep them according to your preference.

The MIUI team released their official launcher onto the Play Store for 2.3+ and 4.0+ devices. If you are unfamiliar with MIUI, what the team is well known for is making Android look like a completely new OS with flavors taken from all over the place. To some, the lack of a dedicated app drawer reminds them of iOS, but MIUI is much more than an iOS clone.

Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi has just made available a new version of its MIUI interface. This time, however, it is not a full Android ROM to be flashed on a device but is a less invasive homescreen launcher meant for non-MIUI smartphones.

This MIUI launcher is marked as a beta and it shows. Many parts of the user interface are still left in its native Chinese language and the MIUI forum lists possible issues one might encounter. Still, the launcher is quite functional and runs rather smoothly. [UPDATE] Just to clarify things a bit, this launcher is the brand new MIUI Express. Xiaomi also has another MIUI launcher already in Google Play Store named MiHome. The two are almost indistinguishable from each other except for subtle differences. MIUI Express definitely more recent but there is no word yet on the future of the older version.

I noticed a glitch in MIUI 11 on my Redmi Note 5 due to which I could not switch to another launcher. I mean, when I tried to change the default home app by choosing another one, just nothing happened.
