Brain-Computer Interface Laboratory

The Brain Computer Interface (BCI) Lab at MANIT Bhopal focuses on advanced research in brain–machine interaction using EEG signals. It enables experiments on emotion recognition, mental workload, motor imagery, and cognitive neuroscience. Equipped with modern EEG acquisition systems, neurofeedback tools, and AI-driven signal processing techniques, the lab supports applications in assistive technologies, healthcare, and human–computer interaction. It provides students and researchers with hands-on training and innovation opportunities.

About the Lab

The BCI lab was established in MANIT Bhopal in 2024. BCI Lab at MANIT Bhopal focuses on developing direct communication pathways between the brain and external devices. It is a center for research in EEG signal analysis, cognitive neuroscience, and human–computer interaction. Equipped with advanced tools such as EEG headsets, driving simulators, and VR systems, the lab provides hands-on learning and experimentation. It also fosters innovation in healthcare, neurofeedback, assistive technologies, and AI-driven brain signal processing. The lab supports undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. research.

Brain Vision Recorder: Multifunctional EEG recording software. It is designed to provide our amplifier customers with an extremely versatile and easy-to-use platform for recording setup and execution.

E-Prime Stimulus Presentation Software: Psychology Software Tools offers a powerful yet user-friendly platform for designing, running, and analyzing behavioral experiments. Its intuitive drag-and-drop interface supports stimuli like text, images, video, and audio, while delivering millisecond-precise timing and seamless integration with hardware like Chronos and EEG system.

EmotivPRO: Advanced EEG recording software crafted for researchers, developers, and practitioners who prioritize precision, adaptability, and user-friendly design.

Emotiv BCI: Converts brain activity data, facial expressions, and head movements into digital signals that can control endless devices and applications.

OpenViBE: A software platform that enables to design, test and use Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCIs). OpenViBE can also be used as a generic realtime EEG acquisition, processing and visualization system.

BCI2000: An open-source, general-purpose software system for brain-computer interface (BCI) research that is free for non-commercial use. BCI2000 includes software tools that can acquire and process data, present stimuli and feedback, and manage interaction with outside devices such as robotic arms.
