“Harit Prahari” is an NSS initiative focused on protecting and boosting green cover, especially where it is most needed. NSS volunteers carry out surveys to find areas lacking trees by checking the number of trees, their ability to filter oxygen, and official Air Quality Index (AQI) reports. This helps to identify places that urgently need plantations and ensures plantation drives have real impact.
The main objectives of Harit Prahari are :
i. To promote plantation and protection of trees for a healthier environment.
ii. To use AQI data and local surveys to guide efficient and impactful plantations.
iii. To spread community awareness about the importance of trees in improving air quality, preventing soil erosion and climate change.
iv. To involve students and communities in caring for planted trees for lasting benefits.
