The group is seeking motivated Ph.D. students and postdoctoral researchers to work on fundamental materials science and materials chemistry for next-generation energy storage systems. Our research focuses on “Beyond Li” metal batteries and all-solid-state batteries, with particular emphasis on the design and control of metal–electrolyte and cathode–electrolyte interfaces and interphases. We welcome applicants from all engineering disciplines and chemistry.
Group members gain extensive exposure to leading experts in the energy storage community and advanced characterization and simulation tools, including synchrotron methods, cryo-EM (FIB-SEM, TEM), and computational modeling. Researchers in the group regularly publish in top-tier journals and present at major international conferences such as Materials Research Society (MRS) and Electrochemical Society (ECS).
Interested Ph.D. applicants should email david.mitlin2@utexas.edu and apply through the Materials Program at the Texas Materials Institute (TMI), clearly indicating their interest in working with Professor Mitlin.
Postdoctoral applicants should email a CV including a publication list.
