As of March 2017, the NZ MRT Board now set the standards that MIT's need to meet to maintain their competence, for the purpose of re-certification under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003.
What do you need to maintain your CPD to the MRT Board's new standards?
Minimum of 60 hours recorded over a 3 year period (triennium).
Minimum of 10 hours recorded in any one year.
At least 35 hours of recorded CPD must relate directly to your scope of practice (classed as Substantive CPD activities) over a 3 year period.
Up to 25 hours of recorded CPD can be General CPD activities (activities that relate to learning in the health care environment) over a 3 year period.
Maintain detailed and verifiable records for all CPD activities for a period of 4 years (one triennium, plus one year).
Provide at least 10 supporting documents confirming your engagement in CPD activities - 6 of those documents need to be for substantive activities.
Every year the MRTB will audit 20% of MIT's holding an Annual Practising Certificate.
