- I am from Rocky Mount, NC in eastern Carolina. Before teaching I was a CMA working in Hospitals and Doctor's Offices.
-I am a Foundations and Math 1 educator. This will be my 4th year teaching and i love it. I enjoy, reading, doing all things crafty. I own 3 businesses (Crafting, Skin Care and Candles.
- I attended WSSU, King's College and Livingstone College. - I am a graduate student seeking to obtain a Masters and Doctorate degree in urban education and Leadership Development to be a principal.
- I have coached, track, cheer, and softball.
- I am currently the Step Team Advisor at West Charlotte, an active executive board member of both Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated, Top Ladies of Distinction, and The President of Salisbury Rowan Davie Chapter of Livingstone College Alumni.
Grading Policy
All work must be turned in on date it is due. After the due date 5 points will be taken off. You have until the Saturday of that week to complete missing work before a 0 is given.
ABSENT STUDENTS ONLY! You have one week from the date the assignment is due. After that day at 11:59, it will become a zero... NO EXCuSES.
Every Quarter, you will receive an extra credit project presentation to do based on the subject. You have a whole 6 weeks to complete this. It is not required but highly recommended. You have to do it correctly, be creative and put effort in order to receive credit. This will bump your grade up 1 letter grade. If you have an A. You will receive 10 points towards any grade that is a 90 or below. I will provide these early in the quarter so you can have a full 6 weeks to finish!
Foundations/Math 1
This course will provide you the opportunity to study concepts of algebra, geometry, functions, number and operations, statistics and modeling throughout the course. These concepts include expressions in the real number system, creating and reasoning with equations and inequalities, interpreting and building simple functions, expressing geometric properties and interpreting categorical and quantitative data.
In this course, students will learn the basics and on grade level lessons of math 1. Students will be held to a high standard, as I plan to ensure they have all the proper material and strategies on passing this course.
To be successful in my classroom, students will be assisted with,
Notebook and Binder and their own set of Pencils.
Gaining confidence within the classroom,
How to effectively communicate mathematically,
How to reach mastery and growth based on their grade level.
